We have 2 local Cat 4's that put in insane miles and do very well in the group rides, but they get cocky in races and always jump too soon.

At the start line of my race, one racer asked a guy about his upgrade and he said, 'I can, but I'm going to stick around and get me and my friend some more wins.' The field had a collective groan at that point.

Oh well, did some sprints today, close to my best time, and the good thing is getting close to my max is pretty consistent. 200 watts off my 2015 goal. No matter how hard I try, I cannot beat my max 5s power unless there is a actual sense of emergency (ie closing a gap, sprinting at the line, a car running a red).

Perhaps you misunderstood what I was reacting to.

Should I shoot for 400?

I've always been one to set goals on pretty much everything. I find it helps keep me motivated.

I meant your total number. I think I've made 1200 once and I was happy but then again I'm little. 2015 is huge power.

(PowerTap, so I'm totally thinking we should add 2% to that, and that PT stomp tests 2.7% low anyway...)

You're welcome.

I wish that was my power! I'm about 1200 off that mark.

My 2015 goal as in January 1, 2015 Hopefully by then I will break 1000, which is still pathetic, but its something I can work with in a race. Right now my low power gets me trouble, since I have to work all that much harder to close gaps, etc.

I went to the gym last night and had a good workout, some of the stuff my coach is having me do has all but eliminated my ankle pain and I'm about 20% stronger now than in March.

oh, ****, I'm dumb. yeah, 2015w was sounding ridiculous to me! I'm sure some guys do it though.

Tuesday ride this morning, it's like the country club, same 20 guys every week plus about 20 more intermittent show-ups, and you know who will do what and where they will do it every week. It's my best effort of the week I think, 2.5 hours of drilling it. New 5m power pr! yay!

I am going to scrape together a cat-1 upgrade over the course of a few years from obscure and poorly-attended races, and then I will have the best ewang bragging. I'll be all "ftp right around 5w/kg cat1. You know, nothing fancy." and leave out all the **** I'm terrible at.

In other news. I think I strained my deltoid picking up groceries yesterday. When I went to the dumbbells, I literally had to dust and clean cobwebs off them.

i've been riding a lot the past 2 weeks. especially compared to what i did most of the spring. granted, i did cut out the strength work i'd been doing this season (never did it before this season and I think it may have been contributing to my poor race results. trying to do off the bike strength work 3-4 times a week while racing was probably a bad idea). i knew i was getting close to my breaking point. finally hit it today about 3 hours into my ride. just absolutely cracked. 2 of my favorite races coming up this weekend so it's time to rest up and hope i can pedal somewhat decently this weekend. yay bikes.

except my post lacked numbers, meaning it's not ewang bragging. the hours i've been doing probably wouldn't be big at all for a lot of guys on this site but for me they were.

3 hours seems pretty showy to me...but then again, the only time I hit 3 hours is if I'm in a long road race. Might speak to some deficiencies in my training. Rest up and race well.

New goal for me is to train smarter (could be more could be less) and race a bit less. I'm kind of stale right now as I had some goals getting into cycling last year, I've hit them, and now I'm just kind of going through the motions. I need to sit down, establish some new goals, and develop an actual training plan. To date, I just jump into the local group rides and maybe do one solo "easy" ride a week. Probably not a recipe for success.

but, most of my training is typically shorter higher intesity stuff. need to work the longer efforts into the mix at the cost of a weekend crit here and there.

Unstructured intensity day.
Morning Ride + Noon Ride.
4 hours.
No job.
Gotta get those hours in before 4 days off the bike in AZ for sister-in-law's wedding.
