Bring the bike with you. Our weekday rides are 0530 and weekend rides at 0600, plenty of time for wedding stuff.

goodness...reading a short bit on Carter Jones' training leading up to the Tour of Gila and Tour of California:
The TSS is used to plot the CTL and the ATL which can be used to predict the TSB using the PMC...if all goes well they should have a good result in the GC.

I was thinking I might be able to borrow a car Saturday after getting back from Flagstaff, get a rental bike, borrow a car again Sunday morning. Then again, I might end up being up late hanging out with my brothers on Saturday.

Flying, so I can't bring it. 5:30 on Thursday wouldn't be fun after getting in late on Wednesday, then I'm in Flagstaff until Saturday sometime mid-dayish. Then I will be staying in Chandler and relying on family to get places.

I got to skip cat5 by doing USAC intercollegiate stuff. Those were good days: school paid for travel, hotel, race entry, we just had to purchase our own food. During spring semester we would drive all over central/NCal for race weekends. Good group of guys/girls too.

Last week I had a great week of training and then a bad race. I knew this year racing it would be a harsh learning experiment, but getting that dnf last weekend was a huge bummer. I looked at my power numbers and it just looks like my body was off and I just couldn't put in any decent power. The night prior I went to a party and although I did not drink, I ate several tacos which caused me some 'intestinal issues' prior to the race. Part of me wants to give myself a pass because my power numbers just do not make sense, the other part wants to train non stop (which got me hurt in March).

Decided to do some threshold work this morning on a route that I have never broken 30min on. Didn't look at power, just RPE and the clock. New PR: 28:47. And season highs for 20 and 30 min power. Pretty, pretty pleased with myself.

Yesterday's ride had a detour. Riding at SST pace I came across an alligator sunning itself on the road. The sucker was streched out from one edge of the pavement to over the center line.
I decided to change my route and added a few miles to the day's ride plan.

And folks think I'm joking when I say that "Gator up!" is not unusual on team/group rides.

On today's ride we had two "snapping turtle up!"s.
The real messy turtle season is in August though. When big-ass snapping turtles get hit by cars it's a godawful mess.

Holy crap, I just remembered I hit a squirrel on this morning's ride. I always aim right at them because they always reverse direction, except this one outjuked himself and I hit him square with the front tire. Glad he didn't go into the spokes.

Usually, they are prey so if you aim for them they will, at the last moment, juke out of the way and run off. This guy was off to the side and when I got close (in the extensions no less) went in front of me. A clench moment for sure, but I think I just got his tail as he wasn't there on my return trip.
