Last Tuesday night crit of the season. Fast Freddie showed up and showed us all what real power is. I was in the break with him for 3 laps and then i couldn't hold on. All the strava records got broken.

Coming into the sprint i locked bars with another guy and went down hard. Broken clavicle. Ugh. I guess best to do it at the end of the season after I upgraded.

Will call orthopedist today.

did 20 mins on the rollers yesterday. Definitely was not feeling it, actually felt like taking a nap when I got home. For some reason I was just super tired.

Once I got on the bike things were okay, but I was semi-bored because my laptop battery died and I couldn't watch any awesome youtube videos.

Spent about 40mins finalizing the gym commuter bike(my 10 spd Ultegra Motobecane) only to find out I don't have a bike lock. Failure. Decided to ride to Subway to get a sandwhich and head back. I guess I didn't tighten the bolts on the saddle...the whole saddle moved back about 3 inches as soon as I got to subway. Terrible ride back because I didn't bring an allen key.

I came home and went to take a nap. As soon as I fell asleep, my fiance opened the door and let the dogs into my room. They went wild and would not let me nap.

Horrible day...

Today I learned: fitness doesn't last forever when you stop training. I quit training a month ago, been holding my own since then on the weekly 2 hour hammerfest team ride. Today I did 3.5 hours on Cape Cod with a friend, felt good for the first 2.5 hours, felt like hammered **** for the last hour. Classic bonk, skin felt clammy, legs wouldn't do what my brain asked them to. It wasn't even that hard of a ride, NP mid Z3 until the last hour. Just plain ran out of gas.

Lovely ride though! Eastham to Race Point and back. Strong headwind and midday sun on the return.

LOL.. what a day huh? you are lucky your saddle din't came off like mine last year. Lost the screws and had to ride standing for 5 miles with no saddle. I nearly bought a motobecane once, hope yours holds up.

It's not the bike. I had the frame sitting in the corner for about 8 months after I stripped the parts off of it. I had the bike for 6 years and it's been great, super reliable, light and relatively inexpensive.

Damn, sorry to hear that. I know what it's like lol! It's really not too bad though, as far as training goes. A bit of forced rest and easing back in feeling fresh.

---------------

My usual long group ride today. Today wasn't too much distance (50 miles), but over 5000 ft of climbing, much of it on dirt.

Tried to clip in up a hill, couldn't get it fast enough and stepped down scraping my skin off on the chainring. Then on the dirt climb we hit a steep bit, the guys in front of me unclipped and I tried to ride the edge of the single track around. Didn't work and put my knee down onto a rock for some more blood (actually quite a lot; the whole front of my shin ended up bloody!) Then Katheryn made it the whole trail without unclipping, only to draw blood hitting her knee on a fence post!

Lots of crashes, heal fast everyone.

20min max power test today which confirmed good things, and also confirmed that power meters make for awesome training. It's been a while since I've tasted blood in my mouth...

Thurs: 2 hours of Z2'ish with a friend.

Yesterday I was doing a lot of hip exercises to get the glute to fire better and engage.

Today: 1 hour of cruising around trying new things. Actively trying to THINK to engage the glute. It's much harder than you think and honestly I don't know if it works but I have to THINK about it when I'm doing static exercises(hopefully it'll become muscle memory soon). I also instead of just coasting up to the light, get out of the saddle and squeeze the glute as hard as I can. Then rest for 2 seconds and squeeze the glute while I wait a red light. I'm hoping this does something...we'll see, maybe it'll be easier to engage. Right now my glute feels sore so maybe something worked.

Went out to do a set of 2x30's this morning. Was going so well on the second that I plowed right into a turkey and kept going. I assumed it would move as they usually do, but this one was slow to react. Got a couple feathers stuck in the front brake, but stayed upright and finished the set.

32 miles, 100' in all, 119 tss, and some feathers.
