I'm leaning aggressive for Oakland GP, and probably for Henleyville RR as well.
Henleyville last year in the 4s had a really small field of 13 and it there was some wind. A couple guys tried to get away, but nothing stuck, and it came down to a field sprint with us having only lost one guy to a flat. Looks like a small field again.

Wow, that felt great. I felt strong and powerful in my lower zones for the first time in a while. This is my 3rd week back into riding after taking most of the previous 6 off due a lower back injury.

Early next week, I am going to be cancelling my membership to LA fitness. I just learned that the public, community rec. center by my apartment has a bare bones weight room, and a pool with designated open lap swim hours.

I was excited to discover this, because
1) It's free, and
2) I enjoy feeling like a part of the community.

In my 5-minute stay earlier this afternoon, during which I located the office and the weight room, I had three separate nice conversations with locals about their day, what activity they were there for, or whatever.

Partial training ride today. Wind direction changed and King Fire smoke is now choking this area, so I called it a day after a couple hours of eye burning fun.

Yeah don't be a genius like me, when I lived in Irvine, and ride in that ****.
In other news, legs feel bleh, I had bunch of black lycarish, last race of the season tomorrow. That counts as training right?
I am just hoping it will be better then last CCCX. Field was sketchy as hell.

It's licorice, but it was so awesome I wanted to invent a new way of spelling it to emphasis just how awesome it was.

Survived Oakland Grand Crash fest. Had a guy put his RD in to my front wheel on final lap as he passed me. That was fun.

The first part didn't happen, but I tried ten or twenty times. At least it accomplished the goal of avoiding the carnage.

Easy ride, was tempted to go up to Forest Falls on the group ride which had a massive contingency as there are no races this weekend and people are ramping up for EC, but played it smart.

Did a few miles of Cyclocross with my nephew at one of the singletrack parks. Obligatory:

'safer'

There was a lot of sand and I just made a bad turn and went down. There were also deep water ruts along the trail which were pretty hairy going on a steep downhill and being forced to cross over one. At least twice I thought to myself 'Oh **** I'm probably going to go down and break something...'

Funny, I go to LA fitness just so I don't have to talk to anyone while working out.

I hear ya. I'm hoping that the crowd at the community center is a little less ******-y, vain and disdainful than the one at LA fitness, but we'll see.

Super tired after this week with only 2 hours of riding. I hosted 3 days of meetings with visiting managers and moved into my new condo. Work stress + moving stress + moving labour + almost only restaurant food = crap.

Can't wait to finish getting settled in then pleasure riding for hours. My new place is so close to good rides...

that's why I ride bikes! Much easier to pretend you don't hear people while wearing a plastic heat and going 25mph.

Did 50 miles on Saturday (that's long for me). Relatively flat. Felt much more tired than I think I should have. Considering a recovery week this week. Though the riding weather is really nice this week. Maybe some easy calorie burning/enjoying the scenery rides this week. Haven't decided yet.
