would be fun, but it really depends on how the closer NCC crits go.
that'd be a long way to travel for 39th! (but I'd travel for <15th)
ToAD would be neat too.. we'll see.

I plan on going again...hopefully I will be able to do a better job prepping for it, because it really is a fun race. One day I would like to do the Friday race...but I gotta learn how to race in the 4s first!

i could either do my workouts outside in mid 30's weather with 10 mph wind; or hop on my rollers and ride on the porch. not sure which one would be better...

Gave up on waiting for weather to improve, since it's too late for roads to improve before daylight ends. Decided to flip with tomorrow's gym workout, drove over, and... Gym is closed.
Plan c, trainer and rollers. Always a bummer when I'm not working during all of the daylight and still can't get outside.

the land of a 4-year long drought and potential earthquakes
and i'm going outside for my ride. That roller session was going to be outside regardless, but there is some snow on the ground. SHould be manageable (famous last words...)

Besides, it's not like we aren't ransacked by hurricane, arctic whatchamahoosies, RIDICULOUS heat waves with taint level humidity, and hipsters, on the regular.

You forgot the vortexes. Vortices. Whatever.
Today's workout was XC skiing with the wife. Beautiful day! Sunny and 28F here, but we could see it snowing on the Catskills.
There's a genuine base down in the Gunks. Hard to believe I was riding my cross bike on these trails 3 days ago.

Right, those things too.
4 seasons as seen in the Hudson Valley are 15 months of freezing winter, 8 months of absurdly hot and humid summer, and roughly 1-3 weeks in between these seasons where the temperature is just right, but that's when all of Brooklyn comes out to Instagram.

I plan to be there next year. I will race 3-5 times depending on how ambitious I feel.

Actually not sad I avoided the gym the day after Thanksgiving, right up there with the first couple weeks of January among frustrating fitness center days.

Had failed to complete a 20' test yesterday, completed it today.
A measly 281w for 20' (4.08 w/kg) - I'll never make the TdF with this kind of power!!
I've done 308w on this same climb for 20' a year ago, so there is still room to improve. Hoping to get past that before the season starts, luckily there is time. Also reminding myself I did just fine without a monster FTP last season, so not all is lost even if this is truly my limit (or close to it).
Was at -70 TSB after the last base block; I thought the numbers were exaggerated but I guess they were a bit low! (ftp currently estimated at 285w, which is apparently a tad high for where I'm actually at)

yea but how great is your sprint? my ftp might be 4.8 but my max 5 sec is only like 14.6. I can't really tell you how jealous I am of dudes that can sprint.

Right, we race in different worlds. For me, those numbers are close to what I need, but really its 1 minute power that needs to improve. That's only 475w / 6.9 wkg, which is not even close to cutting it.

It's about being able to suffer, and/or recover and go hard again after suffering. (luckily - or else I'd still be a cat 3 probably, if that)

84 miles, 7000 feet, 5 hours moving and 273 TSS
Rolled an hour Z2 to meet up, started with a 30' Z4 climb, regroup, hard fast descent followed by 11' Z4 climb
Some more endurance/tempo. Then I was riding moderately hard down a -2% grade, hit a slightly wet spot around a wide corner and went down at 35 mph. Slid quite a ways but everything is fine but my helmet and gloves. Car behind me stopped, rider behind car almost went down on the wet patch but managed to save it. I guess I gave good warning LOL.
Finished p with a 25' SST climb, and some easy riding back into town and home.
Quite chilly today, I'd guess 50s all day.

Dang, Aaron, glad your helmet and gloves were the only casualties! You need to buy a lottery ticket before you go to sleep.
