I was working late last night and feeling fat and underexercised, so I put on a HRM and tried my best to get my HR up while standing at my desk working, by moving my feet and whatnot. I found it basically impossible to get over about 65 without being too distracted to actually do any work.

took me a minute to realize you didn't mean doing intervals while riding downhill.

Somehow yesterday's 1 hour recovery ride was 6.3 TSS. 6.3!! I wondered if the power dropped out but no, it was all recorded.. (63w avg). Seems weird though.

Today was 1.5 hours or so of cadence work, 110+.

still no training here since re-injurying my back on Sat. the symptoms are still there, but greatly reduced. I'm optimistic that it will heal faster than last time.

i'm thinking take the rest of the week off, then easy next week, and I should be able to go back at it.

Was supposed to do 2hrs with 3x30min stuff...but I got a flat 1.5hrs into it and forgot my flat kit. Also, it was in the high 30's and raining, which really isn't bad when you're moving, but as soon as you stop...

Fortunately the house I flatted in front of had people home and they let me hang there until my ride came. Today was not my smartest moment on this planet.

3 hours in 45 degree rain. Mostly Z2 with 4x15' tempo intervals. It's the sort of workout that makes me feel like a wimp when I look at the plan before I go out. Like, this is going to be too easy and I should be pushing harder. It wasn't. Long hill still to climb.

Heh. My Z2 HR range starts at 140. At 165, I'm only getting started. Threshold is around 185. Resting HR is low 50's. Heart rate is a funny thing. Very difficult to compare.

After 10 days of being off the bike, 2 hrs today. Rebase for 2 weeks and then intensity. Also, first ride with the Stages PM. It seemed a little slower to react than the PT but I could be wrong.

80 minutes on the trainer...threw 2x15 in there. That sucked. Gotta get used to it again though.

3.5 hours, 184 TSS including evening commute.
Fun group ride this morning, as I feel I did a very good job of riding smarter than usual, while still hitting 100% intensity for the 30' duration. Even took second in the main sprint not knowing where the line was because I'm usually too far back to see it.

Lol!

2 min on - 2 min off, 1:45 on - 1:45 off, all the way down to 15 sec. then rest and repeat.

yesterday - endurance sitting intervals

drove from bay area to phoenix. stopped twice. pretty good gas mileage!

today, 6:00am (5am to me) wakeup to go to a ride that has some hills. I dunno. It's cold as **** though and it feels as though I've lost about 10lbs of water weight through my lips/skin/eyeballs. Doesn't help that my BIL's house thermostat is set to, seriously!!!, 78f.

We (wife, Puppy, me) bought compression socks / tights. $15-$35 (for the tights) at Rite-Aid. Use them for flying and driving - anything over 2 hours.

i've kind of been forcing myself to ride less lately. generally this time of year i develop a really unhealthy relationship with the bike and food and such, feeling like I need to ride 16-18 hours a week. this leads to general unhappiness and really hasn't been pleasant. i guess it's different this year with working a full time job, but even on the weekends, i've been leaning more towards 3 hour rides versus 4-5 hour rides. targeting somewhere around 12 hours a week. i'd probably be doing more if i were commuting more, but there have been an abnormally large number of rainy days lately. anyway, my relationship to the bike is so much better (healthier) than it's been in a long time. and i think my training is going well, considering the time of year. i'm working on the things i'd planned to work on and everything seems to be going well.
