Dang, I hope that "Rev" in there isn't referencing me, I don't know my ass from a hole in the ground concerning training! You'll *really* suck if you follow any advice I give.

6x5min At ~105% FTP with 1min recoveries is very specific and doesn't need to be reexplained for each new member.

Having a workout named after a long-gone forum member who by his own admission had nothing to do with the protocol is silly.

In fact, I never recall him claiming to have invented this style of pacing, I remember him saying that what made him think to try pacing that way was seeing how track riders paced a kilo.
Ha WR was very different many years ago, he came up with it before his power meter days because it was the technique that allowed him to achieve the highest HR during a 1 min interval. Back then he also claimed that endurance rides were unnecessary, he would never use a trainer or shave (maybe that last one is still true).

FYI the pacing strategy was published in 1999.

Well form might not have been a correct word. More of a fitness level so I can ramp up intensity. I am going to Germany at the end of July so season will be cut short also. I would like to do some races there, but I am having hard time figuring out what is the equivalent of amateur racing here.

I just tried that virtual island thing. Pretty fun for the first 20 minutes. After that the other players just sort of got annoyingly in the way and I stopped looking at them.

It did make a 1 hour 60 TSS trainer ride go by a lot faster than usual. Maybe the way to get the benefit of a structured workout with the distraction value of the game would be to design the workout around the game features. Like, I did one full island lap at Z4 to try to get a little more structure than what you might get from a real life hammerfest, you could do something like 4x10x1 pretty easily, or just do the sprints and the climb, or something.

Apparently the real Jani Brajkovic was there. And the real Grumpy McTrumpy too.

Tempo ride with some sprints tossed in. Hit some new power numbers which is great because all I've been doing is threshold lately.

I did 6x5' intervals at 105% of FTP with 1' rest. Wow, that takes too long to say.

2 hours easy on the trail. Quad was tight towards the end but its getting better. I may even be in decent for for UCLA RR in 2 weeks.

Weighed myself post ride, 152. Didn't want to but went out for drinks and steak with coworkers which meant I wouldn't hit the 140's . The steak was awesome though and had a good time.

2 hours of Z2 on XC skis. Conditions could not have been more different from yesterday, when I did 10 miles wth 1600 feet of climbing in the same amount of time. Today was 6 miles, 800 feet, and a higher average HR. 10F warmer meant the snow was super grabby. Great for climbing, pretty frustrating otherwise.

Still, there's no such thing as a bad day in the snowy woods.

Rolled around this morning, felt less sick, oddly strong, and cold-sweaty.

Was glad to see fudgy so I could stop hammering and roll with him, planning out our race strategies for tomorrow. (the gist of which is to survive the chaos)
