After lifting the injured area is sore, but in a good way.

If you're injured and feel sorry for yourself, there's always someone that has it worse. That person is Derrick Rose. Rarely do I feel bad for multimillionaire athletes, but when you're the savior that is supposed to deliver your city a championship, and every year you blow out your knee, that's got to be rough.

i can't believe racing around here starts in 2 weeks. i haven't ridden outside in 2 months and am in probably the worst shape i've ever been in since I started racing. i'll almost certainly be delaying the start of my race season from what i expected. i really need to take a look at bikereg and start planning stuff...

Short but painful.
3.5 all out, 5 off, 1 all out, 3 off, 30" sprint. x2
Strava PR on the first effort. Too bad my power meter isn't working, it was around 6.4 w/kg

i know you've got big aspirations in this sport, but **** man, enjoy college. as a drone to the corporate world I ****ing miss it so much. even when i was depressed and could barely drag myself out of bed last spring, the college lifestyle is something you'll never get to experience again (and i'm really not talking just about partying as I didn't do much of that junior/senior year).

What are you talking about? I found college to be overrated and would rather be training and racing for sure.

I love it, if anything it's show me that cycling is just an aspect of my life, not my entire identity. I struggled with that early on when i was the "prodigy kid" who was going to upgrade to cat 1 by 17, and win nationals. I enjoy that level of competition and dedication, but i've realized being able to sit back relax and be a kid is good sometimes. I've let myself enjoy college a bit too much, so it's time to reign myself back in a little, but i don't think i'll be getting back to my crazy 5.2+ w/kg FTP anytime soon.

Find a job doing something you love, and you'll hate it sooner or later.

A job's a job.

I like my job, but I want more money.

Dear bikeforums, what should I do?

Option 2: 2x20's at ~97%
Option 3: 90min tempo interval at ~80%

I'm leaning toward Option 3, as I know it will be a reproducible effort that will net some solid TSS. If I was earlier in my block I would for sure go for Option 1 as I've been meaning to try over-under's; I've never done them.

Hmmm.
I went went option 3, and it felt easy. My legs felt stiff and uncooperative at first, but riding at 230w felt pretty damn easy after yesterday.

There were a few distinct moments during the ride when my legs got all fuzzy and were like: "OK, enough of this crap, let's hammer!", but I stayed in zone. It felt moderately difficult toward the end, but not really.

Here's a motivation for you: you don't want a fat chubby me beating you up the hills, do you?

Didn't think so.

When I realized I was becoming a high functioning alcoholic is when I quit my corporate drone job and learned how to do the programming thing. Hard as all **** and was basically destitute for a couple of years including a stint basically living out of a borrowed car, but life generally kicks ass now, my "office" is a coffee shop and a hectic work week is like 25hrs. I spend the rest of my time pedaling a bike or doing interesting things. No risk no reward.

edit: interesting things is generally bikeforums or chess, so my life actually sucks. :-|

Alternating Z4 and Z5 intervals on the trainer. Sucked, but I would have done more, except that my delicate outdoor-riding-conditioned taint is complaining about the unprecedented trainer hours the last couple weeks, so I had to pack it in after 2 hours and 120 TSS.

I tried doing some 8 minute threshold intervals on the TT bike last night.

I got through 2 and said eff this. That sucked, and in a way that was completely different than my road bike.

So far in Feb, 30 hours outside vs 13 hours on the trainer. Unfortunately most of those 13 hours have been in the past week, hence the suffering taint.

But, I bet I'll win the Northeast February most hours outside award! I wonder what I'll spend the prize money on.

More sweet spotting. Looking at training peaks, it looks like my 60' power is up 7.5% from 12 months ago. Yay me.

i'm only up to a beer 3-4 nights a week, so far from a functioning alcoholic...but if i didn't have to wake up at 5am to ride, i think things could get dark quick. i've got grad school aspirations, but need to save+pay off some student loan debt first. catch 22 i suppose.
