60' easy spin on the fixed gear. Easy day sandwiched between two hard days.

My lunch break was occupied by grabbing a bite with a friend I haven't seen in a few years. It was brutally windy today anyways, so I'm not too broken up over the impromptu rest day.

I trained.
Working on what you're good at is so much more fun than what you suck at, but it still feels really hard!

Heh +1
Due to Junior, chores, etc I got started really late. Then the battery in the Ant+ cadence/speed sensor died (I got it originally with the Sportsiiiis so it's been a while, I guess 3 years). Did the second two intervals with the new battery. Had to restart Zwift as I had to re-connect the sensors.
Speaking of which I was on Zwift so did a green jersey sprint before and after the intervals. 7.x unassisted before (no power ups), a similar one after but with the aero boost. Then someone doing 47s KOM (based on his 400-600w readings he has a 60 kg weight) blew me away. Stopped as it was midnight.
For whatever reason I'm losing weight. No longer logging my food, just conscious of what I'm eating, and I have a decent breakfast. I was hovering at the 160-163 lbs mark before the race series, before getting sick. Now consistently 158-159, 157 this morning.

Sounds like you have reset your metabolism somewhat. That's fantastic. But don't get complacent!

What's interesting is when I got back on I'd lost my green jersey, then after about 10-15 seconds I got it back, with my original time. Someone took it away from me but it was nice that the momentary lapse counted as a ride pause, not a ride end and ride start.

Skipped my planned Bkill course recon and swapped 1hr easy w 3 1-2min spurts of tempo to keep the legs from shutting down entirely.

Woke up at 5:20, too tired, legs still hurt as usual on Wednesday, but felt a bit extra rest would be better so went back to sleep. Racing track tonight anyway.

Whatever the question, more sleep is usually a good answer.

Early day at work, took a lot not to get on the bike; rode 4 days in a row and other than general fatigue, I feel great.
Suppose I should write up a training plan; I really haven't even bothered guessing what my ftp is but I'm sure its down 30 from Feb, and 50 from last year. So long as I can train as I have in the past, the assumption is that will improve quickly.
Just going to ride for a few weeks. When I feel ready, then I'll test and go from there.

my ctl is a little lower. that's a training-mix thing, though. I am not in prime shape right now, but I'm smarter/better at racing.

2x ~20min on the tt bike.
I almost wish I didn't have a power meter on that bike.

I took a pretty hard spill this morning, 40-45mph, flying down Balboa Ave.
I'm a lucky man - no breaks or head injury. Lots of road rash, both arms and legs, and a heavily bruised left hip/glute - thankfully it was not fractured. My (training) bike is fairly damaged, and I did get to ride in an ambulance, although I was totally coherent and calm when I spoke to the paramedics. It (going to the hospital) just felt like the right thing to do.
Tough break for me - right as I felt ready to train after ~2.5 weeks mostly off due to a back injury, this happens. When it rains it pours. Also, the mtb that I had planned on purchasing with tax return money is going to co-pays and bike components.
I'm not entirely sure how it happened; I was flying down the hill and changing lanes when I lost control of the front wheel. I may have hit a pothole or merely skimmed the edge of those little reflector things at a wrong angle. Regardless, I remember NOT looking forward when I lost control, but looking over my left shoulder at traffic... lesson learned there: Look at the road when you have lateral momentum.
