Been sick. Fever broke last night, feeling so much better. I'll probably ride a little easy today.

My 7 year old is home sick, my first weeknight crit of the season will be this evening. Hello zinc lozenges.

Last Sunday morning I did some 30s/30s intervals, with the "on" portion targeting around 150% of FTP. I was generally over wattage on the intervals, so I could improve my pacing a bit, but nonetheless, it was a challenging workout that made my legs hurt as well as my lungs. Did 10x, then called it a day. Seemed like a reasonably good VO2Max-type workout for crits, given the on/off nature of the intervals. Should definitely be able to increase the number of intervals with a little bit of practice, seems like a good hard workout, especially when I don't have much time.

First moderate day of biking after 7 days of rest from a twisted ankle. I feel slow and sluggish and did 20/25mi of my planned ride. Now my ankle hurts a bit more than it did yesterday, I think I need to tone it down some... recovery is important.

I have no problem riding the trainer, and probably do 200 hours a year on it or the rollers, I just hate waking up early and riding hard. z1 spins in the morning are fine, intervals suck

Really fun ride to Bartlett lake today with a few friends. It's one of my favorite rides here and a good way to get in some climbing. I was with some faster guys so they gave me a couple minutes minutes head start on the way back out from the lake. I PR'd the first 7 mile climb because I didn't want them to catch me! :-)

I would like to re-do that climb some day when there isn't a 20mph headwind and I'm not wearing full winter clothing...

Today was perfect. It's soon going to be too hot to do that ride.

Left dude on shoulder: You're never going to get fast doing this...
Right dude on shoulder: Idiot! Its a rest week
Left dude on shoulder: That doesn't mean you can't bust out an easy 200 TSS ride
Right dude on shoulder: Uhh. it kinda does....
Left dude on shoulder: What about that extra cookie today? That's not going to burn itself.

The conflict never ends.

In 2 days it will be 1 year of consecutive days ridden by me. 1 day indoors. There are many paths and doing _something_ consistently to push your limits is key.

The TT machine has achieved full road bike wattage at much lower CdA. So ridiculously fast. Recovery ride turned into recovery ride + 10min ftp.

Went to do intervals on my lunch hour but just wasn't feeling it so I just to go for a ride. Of course, I felt warmed up and ready to go just as I have to get back to the office. Still, it was nice to get outside.

That's friggin awesome, you should probably mention it somewhere more special than replying to the dribble inside my head.

Best advice I've every had was from a Gunnery Sergeant who said, "The most important thing is to be consistent. If you can be consistent, then everything else falls in place." You definitely have that on lock.

Also, I lifted today, by the numbers I'm 30% stronger than I was in February. Hasn't translated on the bike 1 to 1...maybe 10% but I haven't done any sprint drills on fresh legs in months. I can hit higher watts more consistently now.

It is nice when some dude with no neck and biceps for days jumps on your machine and has to lower the weights, and gives you're scrawny ass that wtf look.

Legs really needed the off day yesterday after the not really recovery week, recovery week. Another crap day around here. Trainer. 5 sets of 7x20 sec 125 % ftp with 15 sec floats at 88%. Felt pretty decent but still hoping the fitness takes a step up after the last training block. Another rest day tomorrow
