an hour of hard tempo indoors, and then some laps around the botanical garden with three hard sprints. Now the split AC is getting installed in the workout room. Glory be he

Planning to ride today once I get my accident stuff resolved. Easy z1, probably nothing that's hard for a few more days.
After 2 crashes, my confidence is a tad bit shaken (even if one was off the bike). I was pretty solid prior to this and hopefully it won't take me too long and stop foreseeing cars spinning in front of my or my wheel sliding out in a corner.

Short and mostly easy with an effort here and there...surprised that I felt a bit sluggish on the bike because I felt fresh and good all day off the bike.

trained. 20" on, 10" off for 5' x 2, up a 7% grade.
amazing how not-far you can go uphill when recovering.. 10" really isn't much.

I think mine is 9,000 but it's a 200 sqft room. I cranked it below 65 yesterday just to see it. I bet I can make it so I can see my breath down there on a August morning.

No ride yesterday, went for a walk after dinner. Should be good enough to race tonight, right?

Today was a rarity, being able to go to a 5:50am group ride (wife is starting work later this summer, so I had a reprieve from my typical parental morning routine). It was good fun, and hitting some fast parts and some hills with a group brought out some good efforts in me (5.7w/kg on a couple of 1-2 minute climbs, if only I could sustain that for longer!) Although I like riding during the day, it is nice to get in an early workout, I feel much more energized

Third day totally off the bike. My back is definitely appreciating the respite, hopefully I'm doing some actual healing right now. Have to commute tomorrow, so I'll see how that feels. I think my road racing season is over except for Mayor's Cup in 2 months, but cyclocross is coming and I need to have a fully functional core for hard back-to-back training efforts. Maybe I'll be ready by the end of the week.

starting to suspect i really really lack muscular power. yeah yeah cycling is an aerobic sport and all that but I think i'm really underdeveloped in anaerobic efforts.

Much is genetic but you can maximize what God gave you with strength work on and off the bike. It really makes a difference for me. If you want some ideas, get in touch.

yesterday I lifted and walked up stairs. today I half lifted, walked on the treadmill at 15% for 15 minutes or so and then did the 38 flights of stairs in the hotel stairway.
I think I've lost all my fitness.

10 sprints today on the road, focusing on mechanics. Sprinting doesn't come naturally to me so I really have to work on this stuff. It went pretty well, got a 5 second PR on the last one. My 5 second e-wang is now "mediocre", up from "sad and pathetic." Woo!

yeah, i used to do low cadence hill repeats in the winter and I think it really helped. haven't done it the past two years though. need to add it back to my schedule this winter.

surely you remember the debate and flame war and subsequent burnings and bannings that occurred when you were in HS and wanted to do plyo to supplement your (editorial comment: meager) ride volume?
Senior Member
^I would but I gave it to a friend.
i remember kind of wanting to do plyo in high school but I don't really remember any related bannings. that being said, i try to not remember most of my high school years.
