Hey Daniel, Good job, we are racing together. I'm in a blue Colnago, Zenberry kit, cat 3.
I hate this course.
I did find it interesting when my 30 second guy passed me after like 1 minute haha. We leap frogged until half way and I took off down the road, eventually beating him (that made me feel good at least). I'm so slow on this course, it frustrates me, but it's just not my thing, but I still think I could have squeezed out a few more seconds if I started off a little slower. Was hoping to break 16.... 16:09

Green Mountain Stage Race: Stage 1 TT 5.6 miles
14th of 68
My first time trial. A little disappointed with the result but I am assuming that I can improve from here. I hit my target wattages pretty well but I feel like I could have done a bit more. I was about 45-55 seconds off the leader and apparently if I had gone 5 seconds faster I would have beaten like 9 other guys. Time trial started with a climb that went on for about 2 miles. It was on this climb I passed my 30 second man. Then you take a left and start rolling down a bunch of rollers. It was here that I saw ahead of me both my 1:00 and 1:30 guy. They had been leap frogging eachother for a while as I gained on them. The last 1km is a real kicker though. Basically it is a 14% dip in the road that you then need to climb back out of. It was at this point I rolled up on the two guys and I passed one of them and was about 3-4 seconds off the back of the other guy as we crossed the line. Overall time was 15:11
I was hoping to do alot better but seeing as it was my first TT I will try and cut myself some slack, I certainly felt like I could have cranked out some more power there.

Haha, did he? Your coach is a funny guy (he's right, it's just a funny mental picture for me).

the reality is (unless there was really something strange going on), you were probably going as fast as you could at any given moment. i'm sure there is a ton to improve (pacing, position, gear, etc), but with TTs it always feels like you could have gone harder after it is over, but during the effort it is rarely that way.
keep at it!

Red Kite crit today. I signed up for 5A and 5B. Warmed up a few laps, perfectly flat, not much wind. Lined up at the front again. 2 weeks ago I hid in the pack until the last 3, but the pace was only 25mph so today I planned to pull at the front more. Whistle went off and I rolled out to an easy pace I could hold for a half hour. After a lap I looked back and still no one was on me. I didn't want to ride out front the whole way, nor did I want to crawl alomg like a snail so I just chilled out there. The pack came up going into the third lap and I pulled a lap before settling into third wheel. Took turns pulling every few laps. With a few laps to go the pace picked up to 30 at the front for a bit and the announcer said the field was split. Idk if they caught up cause 2 laps to go found everone taking the turns all wonky and moving sideways more than forward. Halfway through the 2nd to last lap I felt my front wheel going crazy (later the guy in front of me told me he barely felt anything). I went down and so did one other guy and a mentor. Broken derailleur hanger and bent spoke cut my day short. Luckily I know how to fall and only lost some skin and part of my jersey. Dammit, I liked that jersey!

Yeah I get what you're saying. But I was OTF by quite a bit for a lap and a half and no one came up (I guess I should say someone finally did come up pulling the field with them). I watched the 35+ 123 today and this guy was OTF at the beginning and 7 dudes joined in and they almost lapped the field.

I watched the the Tour de France last month and this guy rode OTF for 35km and won.
Nobody is going to chase you on the first lap unless you have strong riders with you. This says more about the field than it does about you. That's not to say that going at the gun won't work. I've done it and won. The trick is line up next to some known strong riders and roll off the front, not hit it at the gun. You need them to go with you.

Sorry about the crash, but glad you made it out! What do you think of crits vs RRs? (doesn't have to be either/or, but they are certainly different)

Red Kite 2/3's - 6th. Won the "most aggressive" award for the race.
But looking back perhaps I shoulda just sat in and gone for the sprint.. that's what the winner basically did!
Attacked a bunch, about six times maybe. Chased on the front too. Did too much work.. can't wait to have a team next year!
Pulled a miracle on the last lap - we got swarmed before the 3rd corner, somehow I came from about 30th wheel to about 10th wheel by the last corner. Felt great for the sprint but too much ground to make up. ****.
Was 4th in the omnium going into this race, the last one of the series - needed 7 points on 3rd to take the spot back. Only got 6 so we ended up tied, and they gave him 3rd b/c he did that TT last weekend I guess. Oh well, a check's in the mail anyway.
--
Red Kite p/1/2's, 10 minutes after the 2/3's race. "Sat in". Almost gave up 20 mins in, but the legs came around. Felt good towards the end, but not good enough. Sprinted for 16th.

RedKite 3/4s. Good race overall (for me). 23/55.
Second race as a 4 and it was another 3/4 field. Quite a few teams were well represented (as in 7-8 people for 3 different teams). The pace was hard from the get go and a few breaks were attempted, but didn't stick. About 20 minutes in a break of 3 got away and started to build a lead. I believe each of the three well represented teams had folks in the break, so there was a lot of slow pedaling on the front. I had considered chasing after the break, but having done that two weeks ago I elected not and decided to hang back. A couple weeks back, I chased a couple breaks and burned a lot of energy just to get sucked back by the pack. The break got pulled back after 5 or 6 laps.
With 4 laps to go, we were one big happy group again. With two left I moved up into top 15 or so and hung in. Going around turn 2 (of 4) on the last lap, I picked a bad line and got stuck, then swarmed just before turn 4. Cruised in with the pack and called it a day.

I hung around to watch a few races after the 3/4s. You were doing WORK. Amazing effort. Im sure it was hard to hear the announcer during the race (I never heard a word in mine), but he spent most of the time singing praises about your effort. He wanted someone from the crowd to explain to him who you were doing work for as you were in there solo.
I was doing work for myself, either trying to get away or pulling back a break. At some point (early) decided I wanted the "most aggressive" award.. which of course came at odds with winning the damn thing, but so it goes. I actually felt great at the end, so my non-win was more attributed to bad positioning than too much work/bad legs, at least that's what I'm telling myself.
1st overall/the race winner actually has his cat 1 points, but was sticking around for this series. Hopefully next year he'll be a 1, I'll have a team, and I can take over in the 2/3's!!
How was the 3/4's? I was impressed with the winner's attack, that he held everyone off on the last lap like that.

Ha, cool. Yeah I could hear him, at least saying my name a lot. (he mispronounced my name every time lol)

3/4s were good. Still learning to position myself better getting to the finish on the last couple of laps. I saw the winner break, but I assumed he'd get caught. So wrong. I was told afterward that he's a pretty dominant 1 or 2 in track and will be moving up to 2 in road next year.

Green Mountain Stage 2: Circuit Cat 3 (72 miles 7.75 laps)
A day that mostly involved sitting in and conserving energy. Save for 2 breaks that looked promising but fizziled. The fist was created at the 1.75 lap mark. I sat on a few sprinters who went for points and after I drafted them across the line I let it loose. A break was starting to coalesce but none of the riders were putting it down enough to keep the pace at the necessary level to make the break stick. Later on a break ended up forming that looked promising with maybe 6-10 people. I bridged up to it but it ended up getting reeled in again.
In the end I just settled for a group finish across the line. There was one guy who got away from the field and dangled like 10 seconds out of reach for about half the last lap, he crossed the line 4 seconds ahead of everyone else. I say good for him. At the end of the day I finished a wheel behind the leader and I didn't really bleed any time to anyone important. And lo and behold the guy in 2nd place got popped somewhere and lost like 6 minutes, this and one other guy loosing time bumped me for 13th overall to 11th.

Made it through the 2nd stage at GMSR Cat3 without bailing off the back, moved up from 47th to 39th. Not too bad for my first road race since the GMSR last year and 100 hours in the saddle.
Goal today is to make it to the base of the App Gap climb with the pack, maybe even the first mile where it isn't so steep, and then do what I can.

Well I can attest that Dave, the crashed-out mentor, was ok afterwards - he did fine in the 2/3's & 1/2's races later in the day.
Sorry about the crash, but glad you made it out! What do you think of crits vs RRs? (doesn't have to be either/or, but they are certainly different)

Moved up to 35th after 36th up the App gap. Was hoping to hang with the group a little longer but I gave what I had. Someone else on here found their climbing legs today though

DUDE! LEADING GC! wow, incredible. I was checking results after seeing a friend on FB in someone else's pictures (said friend is leading women's GC). And I scroll down to see what else is up. A win today, 1:06 up on 2nd place. Overall 1:47 up on 2nd, incredible job. You're going to do fine in the crit tomorrow, you were great at Keith Berger. Totally stoked for you, awesome job so far, finish it up tomorrow.

GMSR Stage 3 Cat 3: Win
I am still in quasi shock but I won it. 15 miles out there was a break that had 2 minutes on the field. Me and another guy I knew just rolled off the front of the field and performed a very effective bridge. As we got to the break we were informed that we were 2:30 ahead of the pack. When we caught the break we were at the base of Baby gap and I eventually just set a pace that ended up dropping the 4 initial break riders and me and my friend that I initially bridged with continued on to the KOM. Since neither of us were in contention my break mate let me take the KOM and we continued on down to App Gap.
From there it just became a slog. We hit the climb and the official told us we had 2:30 on the field. We had also run out of water since the last neutral feed ended up having no one there.
Regardless we both struggled up the climb and I crossed the line about a minute before my breakaway partner. As I crossed the line I basically collapsed into the helpers there but it was worth it. I am now hearing that the effort not only netted me the stage win but also the GC and KOM jerseys. Still waiting for the online result posting.
RE-EDIT: Okay I found those results.
