Also, this. Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good.

true enough

as for me, i need upgrade points, so i really don't care, but at a certain point i wonder if it may be worth it to call the bluff. Though to be honest, whom am i kidding? i am a even-paced rouleur with no sprint; so if it's hilly, i'd be with the front group and if it's flat, i sure as hell ain't gonna finished 3rd sprinting from the field...

Glad to have come away in one piece and I think top ten, though I didnt stick around for results.

Getting more experience...
Teammate was taken out of the 50+ in the last lap, but he missed the cholla and is okay. I missed it this year (nursing fractured ribs), but was run into the sand last year trying to go around people for the sprint when there wasn't really quite enough room. I avoided the cholla, however. I grew up in San Diego, where there is also lots of Cholla. I have 1337 cholla avoidance skillz.

Then what you need are good hard work and some luck. The points will take care of themselves.

i work hard, and i have luck. Hopefully the points will take care of themselves.

Also my post was half jest, i'm not stressing over points. I would like them, but i know that i have a tiny bit of time before i need to start crying that i don't have my 1 upgrade!

I should be racing in a week, but honestly i'll probably miss the race just due to not wanting to drive 3 hours to race while trying to catch up on missing assignments (i've missed far to many days this month due to sickness/model un/other school ****, so i have like 5 tests to make up. I also have to miss a couple more days if i'm thinking of the right date). Oh well t'is life. <3 u all, you stupid mother duckers

Sean Kelly would ride up, do the race, then ride back. It's a Hollinger production. You should go.

sorry, but do please indulge me as i'm a bit dense right now. i think i know what you are saying: that the points are results of good racing. But still, if i want to upgrade, then I want points. Don't really see why you are getting hang up on a word

Want and need are two different things. There's nothing dense about that. Do your work. Race smart. The points will come when you are ready to upgrade.

one can want whatever they want. what they'll get, however, is often what they deserve (and usually related to race intelligence and hard work). some folks think hard work = crushing themselves at all possible times (in workouts and in races).
