Stuck in the middle of BB30 and standard threaded english shell? No problem
I'm using one of these on my track frame which has a threaded BB. Let's me run my BB30 Rotor SRM. It'll work with any English threaded BB and standard BB30 crankset.
Didn't realize they had this out there until a friend clued me in while we were discussing PM's.
This just in:
I stand corrected on it's universal BB30 application.

I'm interested, since I've got an unused take-off BB30 FSA crankset. Have you tried this with any other BB30 crankset? From their website:
30 mm external bearing BB which allow the installation of 3D+, 3DF, FLOW, and POWER cranks in classic BSA threaded frames. Includes installation/removal tool.
**Will not work with BB30 specific cranksets.

Compatibility issues aside, BB30 adapters tend to click, creak, and generally make noise, in case you guys didn't know. My buddy runs one and under load, you can hear it from a mile away. That might steer you away from using an adapter...

Some BB30 crank spindles are too short for this.
And in some cases, like with three-piece cranks, getting a longer spindle to use this BB results in a pretty messed up chainline.

I have a Quarq BB30 for my Litespeed, then I have two of those Rotor BB's, one for the threaded BB on my TT bike, and one for the threaded BB on my Ritchey Breakaway. Works like a charm.

BB30 frequently creaks on its own without an adapter, doesn't seem like much of a concern to me. Take it apart and grease it every couple months.

What about the other direction? Is there a way to use a standard BSA in a BB30 frame? There must be some sort of adaptor, right?

Great. I didn't want to have to get a new Quarq if I got a BB30 frameset.
