how much of the pro peleton is doping?

how much of the pro peleton do you THINK is doping? i know there is not a lot of evidence, and this is strictly opinion, but i just want to hear what everyone thinks. i am more specifically referring to D1 international racing, but if you have any comments or experience about the domestic scene, feel free to post them.

probably about half of all pros and virtually all of the big grand tour riders. an ex-pro i know once said that there are two kinds of grand tour riders: those who aren't doping and those who look good in the third week.

it's getting harder to get away with doping, which is why someone seems to get caught every week or so, and why otherwise intelligent people resort to stupid things like blood transfusions. on the other hand, that doesn't mean that you can't get away with it. remember, david millar bever tested positive.

There were great articles in the past two issues of the Velonews regarding doping in the pro peleton... The last one had two former pros stating (w/o giving out their identity) that pretty much everyone dopes in Europe (but also in the U.S., to a lesser degree), with 5-10% of the riders doping no matter what and the rest doping in order to have a fighting chance to do their job and stay competitive....

I went 41 - 60% but then I'm an idealist and
hope that SOMEONE (anyone) in the pro peloton isn't
doping.
Given the recepetion that riders who blew the whistle
got (Simeoni, Manzano) I'd venture to say its higher.

Sad.

You need to add an "Everyone but Lance, Tyler and all the Americans" option.....

I voted with Devil.

I Believe Tyler
That said he's supposed to go to trial the week after next, and all the locals that I trust to know him seem surprisingly confident. I'm predicting Tyler becomes the cycling equivalent of OJ Simpson

Chalk up another 80%+

the joke in the montreal cycling scene is that tyler is innocent: he was attacked by a reverse vampire!

poor guy.

he's a victim.

I look at it a little differently, I think that Lance Dopes for the reason of keeping on a level playing field with the other members of the peloton. He keeps the race more "even" by doping because everyone else is, if he didn't then everyone would have an advantage over him.
