First win!
Won a Cat 4/5 crit today by about a hair length for my first win since I started racing last year. I've had some really great training rides recently (set a new PR 1 minute power test at 692 watts a few days ago), so was feeling good going into the race. Actually, I credit using a foam roller to loosen up my quads and IT bands as creating the boost in performance. The foam roller has been a revelation. Going into the race, if the opportunity presented itself I wanted to try a breakaway since I'm not a great sprinter (the course is about 0.5 mile, flat, with some twisty turns). About 30 minutes into the race, shortly after a prime, I went off the front without making a big production, and got chased down.. Attacked again, and got separation. Rode about 8 minutes solo, and 2 guys eventually bridged. They were spent from the chase and didn't do much work. In retrospect I should have tried to get rid of them right then and there. since I was doing 75% of the work. Going into the final 2 laps, another rider bridged so we were a group of 4. On the last lap, I led off the front and went into a sprint with about 25 seconds to go and barely held 2 riders off, literally by a hair to get the win. Really happy with the result. Halfway to Cat 3 in upgrade points.

That's great!! Did you get your BMC at EBP cycle lab? I used to ride with Gunter and Carlos when I lived in Miami, they're good guys. Rosewood series?

Making a kilometer blurry
Nice work! Congrats.
One note: careful on the attribution of strength/performance to any one thing (like a foam roller). There have been many times in this sport where I attributed a great performance to the wrong thing, and was disappointed when it didn't bear fruit ever again. Sometimes you'll be right, and sometimes you won't.

that's why you have to do all the things. foam roller, beat juice, intervals, throw salt over your shoulder and line up 4th at the start.
