Will be my first time doing Chico STR. Last time I raced in gravel was during collegiate days.
I still remember on last lap, entering gravel section, me saying "Here we go", then promptly loosing the front in deep section. |
Heh flatted on as soon as gravel started on first lap. Support car was nowhere to be found because it stopped to deal with a crash couple miles back and then driver decided to follow those riders instead of main pack.

Wow. This guy I raced against in cat 3 two years ago, who won the district champs last year, just won the P1 time trial and is 2" back in GC. According to Strava 30.8 mph at 400 watts.

Does anyone know what day the E3 RR is at Sea Otter? https://seaotterclassic2017.sched.co...cing/Road+Race doesn't appear list E3 at all (maybe I'm blind), though the Crit is Thursday and the Circuit Race is on Friday so I would *assume* Sunday (given Saturday looks to be all Juniors), but I'm not positive.

If you run through this link: Amateur Racing - Sea Otter Classic - April 20-23, 2017 - Monterey, California, USA (Powered by SRAM) and click on Road Racing then "Age Categories" it brings up a pdf showing the Cat 3 field on Sunday at noon. |
Last week I hit 1050 TSS. Didn't feel to bad doing weights and form sprints on a ride after.
Clearly I should train more. |
Just an FYI, Golden State Race crit course has a healthy amount of debris along the shoulders of the course's backside. Second to last corner does, too. If guttering becomes rampant, flats may follow.

Holy ****, by over a minute?! Hope there was a strong tailwind or something today at least.
|
from what i heard it actually might have been adverse wind conditions. i think the whole >7 W/kg thing (470W, ~66kg?) is probably the reason he went so fast...

Dash For cash
Elite 2-3 1:40 Masters 35+ 1-3 2:40 Elite 3 4:30 Elite 35+ 3-4 5:30 Choices... |
And P12 is before 2/3 for once. Even get an hour between to rest a bit. I may go to live 105 BFD instead tho.
But Folsom - I may do that. Don't think I've done it before but maybe I forgot? What's the course like? |

all are going to be HOT.. since I live in Pleasanton
Deciding if I want to improve my chances of getting points/money or have fun. Thinking of doing 3's swapping numbers and then doing 35+ 3/4 right after. |

On Side note looks like there will be prices from Sierra Nevada at Folsom Classic crit. Another reason to do it Aaron. |

Talk about taking the "flushing money down the drain" to a whole new level. I am not as strong as you are, MR. CAT 2. :P

Dash for cash! Sneak a few primes in the 3/4 35+ and it's all paid for.
After todays race in Modesto heat I am having second thoughts on the plan. It wasn't even that hot and I felt like ****. I am still feeling bleh. Not sure how tomorrows RR will go. :| |
not racing, but a ? for the norcal racers:
is there a flat or slightly uphill (0-2%) and (relatively) safe road for 10-15' intervals within a 20' ride from palo alto? thanks! |
Alpine between 280 and portola comes close, but it's about 10minute interval and does kick in near the top.
You can make a right on to Potola to add a minute before it starts going down. Careful thought, sometimes cops seating at that stop light. |

Careful thought, sometimes cops seating at that stop light. before i saw this post, i went out for ride and stumbled upon arastradero (through the park?) to alpine...basically where you suggested. pretty fortuitous. amazing riding out there, and i'm sure i haven't even scratched the surface. |

Folsom is a pretty straightforward course. Oval-ish with two 90 degree right hand turns.
