Atlanta

How is Atlanta for riding/racing? I live in New England and will probably be moving to either SC, GA or FL. Have not decided yet but I need to be near a major airport... Trying to pick the best combination of cost of living and also availability of racing.

Atlanta has the Silver Comet trail which is nice for riding on, other than that Atlanta pretty much sucks. The traffic is terrible, cost of living is high, but it does have Hartsfield-Jackson airport which meets one of your requirements.

how major of an airport do you need? Greenville has greenville/spartanburg international and does a fair amount of business. it is an excelent place to ride, huge cycling community. we had training races last weekend. cat 1-5, masters, and women. over 1000 people entered. there are a lot of teams and clubs around, and regular club rides, but i don't know if the airport fits your requirements. the cost of living is very reasonable. there is a very strong art, music, and theater community. excellent downtown area, extremely social with lots of coffee shops, nice restraunts, etc... there is also a very diverse pop. The greenville/ spartanburg area was named the number one US destination for Europeans moving to the US a year or two ago. This is largely due to BMW and Michelin's presence.

Wow that sounds great. Greenville is another option for me. I have family that works in the area and also say it's very nice there. Very up-and-coming place with lots going on. I think north of Atlanta looks good but problem is the airport is south. Most of the time I'd be working from home, however. It would be nice to live someplace where there is decent riding nearby. Where I am now is quite ideal. It's a populated area but there are lots of back roads. Reports from northern GA sound mixed.... I gather it's a matter of where you live and have to work.
