    Tour de Moore anyone?

I'm currently training for my first race of the season...the Tour de Moore in Southern Pines, NC. Anyone else doing it? Eight weeks from tomorrow! Also I believe that the NC/SC RR championships will be there in Southern Pines first weekend in June.

Anyone know when and where the NC Time Trial Championships will be held? I'm still waiting to get a good race calender for the southeast region.

I did it last year and plan on doing it again this year. It's a nice race. Best part is, well at least last year, the race ends in a street festival so you can eat tons of food after and there is a cheering finish line

Check out http://t2r.org they have a good nc/sc race schedule among other things.

    Also this pdf:

Last year was interesting I was in good positioning the whole race then it drops out of the curcuit and heads for town the pace picks up it enters town and I lost it on the last corner. This year I plan on trying to hold that last corner.

    Whoa! Thanks for the link!

I never did this race before....but several years ago I showed up to simply watch and enjoy the festivities....when someone asked me to drive my vehicle behind one of the races and carry the spare wheels(a volunteeer didn't show up or something?). I was more than happy to help. The wheels were loaded and off I went following the race. About 3 or 4 miles into it I looked down at my gas guage and noticed that I was nearing empty. I didn't even think about checking this before I volunteered to carry wheels. Here I am with no gas in the tank, carrying wheels and following a bike race with about 40 miles to go to the finish. As far as I knew...in race refueling was not an option. Suddenly beads of sweat developed on my forehead. As George Clooney said in the movie 'Oh Brother Where Art Thou' ..."We're in a tight spot!" I continued on and coasted on every downhill. I nursed that tank for all she was worth...and somehow(don't know how) I made it to the finish. That was a very grueling experience. Always look before you leap!
