Just finished the book - loved it!

Even wrote a review on Amazon, which I rarely do.

Would love to see a chapter on the basic USAC rules (free laps, etc), but overall I really enjoyed the read.

Friend of mine didn't know about the free lap rule for mechanicals in crits at the Oakland GP. He flatted, ran to the service tent, got a spare wheel, and immediately started chasing the field. It took him ~3 laps of hard effort to catch back on. He still took 5th. He gives Phipps (Pizza Man, here) a run for his money in hill-climb events like Mike's Bikes Cul du Pantoll and the recent San Bruno Mt. race, though, so it wasn't too surprising.

    Jim or Bingo?

p.s. while we're counting I beat Phipps time at San Bruno! The silverest of linings on my bronze on the 1/1 world championships.

    Bingo.

Congrats! After watching his glass video, it looked like he attacked hard at the loop to Radio Road and was sort of just maintaining the gap from then on. He didn't even PR the climb. His time was still almost 5min faster than my PR from last year's race. Which means your time was too. Long way to go for me...

I really appreciate the good review.

I can't figure out if the 1-star review is a family member or a former co-worker.

What will I miss if I get the Kindle version -- besides the high quality VeloPress paper?
    Thanks.

There are a few illustrations that may not look as good with eink I suppose, but the value is in the writing. I've read it through twice. It's motivating.

My signature with a Sharpie on the inside flap, that's about all you'll miss. A value of $.37

But I'll gladly sign the screen. Find me before one of the Amgen Tour stages in May.

And glad to hear that, shovelhd. My aim was to make racing better. Hope it helps!

I am about 1/3 of the way through. I did not expect to find reference to Keith and his book Twist of the Wrist.
I see hills.... Bring them on!!!
