guys I could not deliver the goods. I ramped up slowly to about 600W doing 30mph then went into an all out sprint to 1400W and hit 38.7 mph.

Anyone hitting 40 mph solo on the flats with sub 1500W is either a midget or has a broken gps unit.

PS: can I have my cat 6 upgrade pls?

well there you have it folks, ovoleg has laid down the law. everyone go home.

Solo, flat open road... I can't come close to 40.

ovoleg 04-03-14 08:23 AM

fudgy actually pointed out to me on Strava that it was downhill, FAIL!

I tried it a few times, once on the flat river bike path, another time near the park to my house and once more on an open stretch of road. All of this was after a beatdown set of intervals.

anyways, yeah 40mph is hard

Good call.

Like I said multiple times in previous posts, anyone with a powermeter can get out on the road anytime they want and see those power numbers are b.s. for those speeds.

No point in responding to him anymore.

Why don't you clear a whole lot up for everyone and post what race this was. Name & location.

If your experience trumps everyone else's then put it out there.

Why?

What does it matter to me if you do or do not believe what I write? It doesn't. You can choose to ignore what I say all you like. Doesn't matter a bit.

Got it up to 38.5 on a flattish section at about 1,000 watts yesterday near the end of a 55ish mile group ride. Hadn't planned to sprint as this ride typically doesn't have a "sprint" finish. But, one guy started to go about 300m, so I jumped on his wheel until we hit about 150m (~30 mph) then came around him. I probably had a bit more in the tank and may have hit 40, but eased off once I knew I was clear. Due to my size 6'3" 190lbs, I'll need a lot more than 500 watts to clear 40.
