One thing that they never really addressed before is that it's a 3+ minute lap, 2+ miles. Technically the pit needs to be at a cut through point (accessible from both sides of the course, like a Ninigret) but historically it's been on the main straight. This makes the pit, if it's just one, a non-free-lap pit, i.e. you chase when you get your bike fixed.
Question is will it be free lap or will there be two pits or one bisecting pit that reduces lap distance down to legal distances? Not necessarily for now but for tomorrow night.

Details on the pit location are unknown at this time but we have to remember that for the pro race it is a night race, so it would be impractical to have a pit in the "infield". The course length is listed at 3km so there will be a free lap until 3 to go. Riders will be allowed to cut the course to get to the pit with the usual restrictions.

okay. I'm bringing wheels and hoping I don't flat.

There is no neutral support. I'm not sure if there will be a pit mechanic. If you want wheel support you will have to bring your own.

I forgot to put wheels in the pit, too busy looking after Junior. All good, I got shelled early on. My teammates attacked from the *** and the high pace sawed maybe 3 teammates off the back. It's one thing knowing what's going to happen, it's another to be able to follow it. It was fun to watch the race and one of the guys Aaron that started this season as a 5 ended up 3rd in the race. He raced really smart, we had one guy Lance that was a dedicated leadout. Aaron and Lance tried to go on Lap 1, realized pretty quickly that no one was letting them go. Lance kept the pace high with the third break guy Stan, Aaron sat in. Due to the wet I told Aaron to go early - the curving sprint meant the riders' rear tires would break loose in the sprint and I felt that going early would handicap those trying to come around at the finish. Ends up everyone's wheels were slipping and one guy crashed when he jumped, exactly the scenario I thought would happen. The only thing was that the finish line was just a bit further up the road than on Tuesday Nights. If it were in the same place Aaron would have gotten 2nd but the he was fading hard and got 3rd. A fun night even thought it was wet.
Also a good dinner with Shovel after. I got home at midnight, one of my precious few nights out this year instead of looking after Junior.

Anyone heading to Green Mountain? I'll be going solo. Had a team mate coming with me, but he backed out. Thought it was a cheaper alternative to a divorce lawyer

Super fun race, I'm absolutely coming back next year. I normally don't race when its wet, but I think the slick roads made it a better race IMO. My rear wheel slipped out and was able to avoid the crash in the last corner. I ended up 12th on the day; do you know if the guy crashed was hurt at all?

It really was an awesome event. Well organized, tons of moto refs, beautiful course, awesome community enthusiasm, and free food and beer for the racers after the event! I can only imagine participation will explode next year unless he a) increases the price or b) caps reg. I'd much rather see him do B.
I ended up 60th in Mens Overall and 5th in the 20-29 age group. Happy with that considering my complete lack of off road experience. Ellen Noble put on a damn clinic in the group I was with for a while, easily pedaling up steep, slick climbs while a bunch of full grown men shouldered their bikes.

The summer edition was decently attended and was well enough run. The course is not really all that difficult, you just need to make sure to eat enough and conserve energy since it's a bit long. In any event I'll be there in the 3/4s.

Personally I really like the new course and I would be racing if circumstances permitted. The summer race went really well except for the usual endless delay on results.
The fall race always has the lightest attendance of the three, lots of people are in cross mode around here already. That does mean things can get a little sloppy.
If you do it, and you haven't raced the 2014 course before, be sure to budget at least 15 minutes for a leisurely climb from registration to the start/finish.

It is gone from bikereg.
On the one hand I am impressed by the promoter's willingness to throw anything at the wall to see what sticks.
On the other hand it is really lame to cancel races all the time, days before the event!

yeah i noticed that the other day while weighing options for this weekend.
i'll probably race portsmouth on sunday just to break out the race wheels one last time this season.
