they could still do it of course, but wouldn't make them very popular in the peloton.

when they were closing in the final Ks the peloton was like 6 wide at the front with 2-3 different tip-of-the-spear guys. Would be tough to do, also guys would headbutt and crash them out, probably. I think there's just an unspoken "we don't do that" agreement.

also awesome today was when nibali shut down the bmc crosswind party just by showing up.
i wonder if he even had to say anything or if his mere presence was enough?

You are correct, pros let other trains do their thing; most of the time.
If my team is lined up and some knucklehead tries to infiltrate our set-up, he's prob going to get an earful, or a solid shoulder. But if our train is in shambles, then all's fair in love and war.

These two have been looking really good this year and could potentially move up to world tour: Joey Rosskopf and Travis Mccabe

SmartStop got invited to the usa pro challenge, so they're getting there!
although I would think Marcotte(?) the new natl champ, has a better shot.
then again kicking ass in the US means little once you go to Europe.

Marcotte is old, 34, and works full time. He'll never go to Europe. And I think he's fine with that.

Did you hear the announcer yesterday say that they were going 44mph on the flats? I think it may have been during the windy section with BMC up at the front. I wonder if there was a serious tailwind, because I think usually they don't really go above 32mph or so on the flats unless they are in the last few miles and chasing down the break.

McCabe has had just as good of a season as Marcotte, if not better. And he's much younger and has potential in stage racing. Even at Cascade he had a stage win and won the KOM jersey. Not shabby I'd said. He finished second at Nats, only because Marcotte led him out too good and got the jersey himself.

Too much talk in the media about TJ killing it in the time trial and landing on the podium. I'm rooting for him for sure, but lets not jinx him with 3 hard mountain stages and the TT to get through!

also does the national RR champ get to go to worlds automatically or is that up someone in charge? It would be pretty awesome if Marcotte got a chance to ride it.
also if you're an American and are thinking about going to Europe I highly recommend Positano, Italy (or anywhere on the Amalfi Coast) and Bruges, Belgium #whatismattmsbeefwithgarmin. also the Normandy coast is quite beautiful and a short day trip from Paris #remember1944
