Maybe it's a NYC thing with interference playing into the loading time, but the manual says 30-60 seconds max. 2-3 minutes is a lot to stand around especially if it's early in the morning or I'm only going out for a 45 minute ride.
It's not specifically an NYC thing, I have the same problem in rural Louisiana. My 500 takes an additional few minutes to figure out the altitude; it usually starts a couple hundred feet lower and finally makes it to the correct ballpark.

I was wondering.

A guy was aggressively asking me if USADA was at Tokeneke (I was working registration at the race). I mean he was really asking, really insistent. I wish I could have tested him right then and there. I have no idea who it was. I could sort of recognize him but he's not a familiar face to me.

Lately, it's been about some sort of bike computers I think.

I did point out that there was an indoor bathroom just behind registration, there were plenty of rooms where there was a reasonable expectation of privacy (i.e. to select a cup, fill out forms, etc).

Description: dark hair, about 6', unbelievably ripped, veins popping out everywhere. Seriously. I think he was M50+, not sure if he actually picked up his number.

I normally go to Interbike. I get to let loose, usually one night, with one or another good friends looking after me (one was my best man, the other is almost as good a friend, both were my leadout men when they raced, both look after me when I let loose). Sometimes, after tax season, the Missus's boss flies everyone out to Vegas. I get to let loose also, although it's a bit less since the Missus is there. I haven't been to Interbike since 2010? Maybe 2011 but the Missus was pregnant in 2011 so probably 2010. We haven't been to Vegas after tax season in a similar time frame, I think 2010.

Anyway I miss my 1.5x/year letting loose.

Tonight tried to lead out a Junior on the local junior development team. I rolled up, paused, and when I saw the shadow that I thought was him moving forward I started ramping it up. He missed my wheel but I think that one of the dads got my wheel. Three juniors got 1-2-3.

Overall I was really impressed with the progress everyone in the B race showed this year. A couple racers just started, a couple older racers (meaning not Juniors) seem either set in their ways or not really aware, but overall it was good.

Nice to see Hincapie Devo win a big race. Maybe they'll go up a notch so they can't race the local races. They seriously get like 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th out here every race they go to.

James Martin? Actually it was the 35+ race. That said, the njba and it's membership (like the nysba) decided this was a priority and they raised the funds the see testing happen. While I'm not a huge fan of testing I'm less of a fan of telling people how to spend their money.

it's worth noting that the suspension was due to missing a test, not a failed result. i've been at 2 races this year that usada was testing, I wrote about one of them where I was tested and provided some specifics on the process. an escort tracked me down by # and was glued to me from about 200M past the finish line until I was in usada's presence, no way i would have been able to miss the test unless I was on the run.

at the second event where usada was present, it was less clear. they were there, and at staging, the masters field and the P12 field were told that they'd be tested, I dont know about others, then after the race, the usac officials rode around and told everyone in the parking lot (which was a field) that if they were on the podium that they'd be tests. thing was, the podium had 5 places, and some fields were combined, so there was uncertainty over who was subject to it. no ******* were roving, then while sitting around, word came through the grapevine that only the 1st 3 finishers of the P12 field were being tested (and this was what went down, no other fields were tested). so, conceivably, someone could have left if they had time limitations or constraints based on that, then if the parking lot quality info was wrong, they could have missed the test, which would have resulted in a failure.

I dont know James Martin from Dean Martin, or how the testing was administered when he missed his test, but putting my direct experience out there for consideration before we burn the witch.

They raced the big gravel race here in Louisiana (Rouge-Roubaix) and Ty Magner won it. He just motored up the gnarly 18% gravel climbs. In an interview after the race, he said, "You just have to know how to ride your bike." Smartass punk kid.

Here's an interesting question. For a 30 minute rolling TT:

Venge with aerofly road bars, or Ti road bike with clip-on aerobars? Weight diff is about 2 lbs but the course is not especially hilly.

I was there. Everyone was informed tgere was testing that day and they needed to check if they were on the list before leaving. He dropped out with two to go and left. Marshals were sent after him. They didn't find him. His case was heard by usada and they chose to give him the maximum. A little research shows that they've been typically much more lenient with the few missed test violations there have been.

Whatever gets your body into the better position and you have ridden at least a few times prior.

That would be the Ti with clip-ons. I guess it's not that interesting of a question.
