I appreciate it. Don't race with what you can't afford to replace though.

For 58 min (I think that was the race as my power drops by a few watts at 59 min and more by 60 min) we did 26.6 mph. I avg 190w, tried to lead out because I had nothing, and apparently most of the guys sat up. I sat up as the road straightened I think (I haven't watched the clip yet) and about 5 guys trickled by. Max power well under 1000w, 963w "jump". Some guys thought it was tame. Only one said it was as hard as last year's A races (where Ben and Austin were drilling it). I think that if I had my regular front wheel I'd have been a bit better, was using the training front wheel.

There were maybe 10-12 guys up the road. I was out of the wind most of the time, like 56 or 57 minutes of the 58.

So Austin rode 5 hours to Limerock before doing the P123 race. I think he's doing some massive hours to make up his team not making Tour of CA. Derek (one of my staff) attacked him at Limerock, soloed for 7.5 laps to the finish and stayed clear of him. Jeepers. Those guys are strong.

I think he was a bit shocked. Hopefully though he figures something out, like either he wants to race or he doesn't. He is the main reason for a number of riders leaving the team. I keep thinking he has potential to do something and stuff like this happens. We had maybe 5 guys near the front on the last lap, I could have helped any of them (and at least two of them have helped me significantly in the past), but I hoped that this one guy would find something at that moment. I know and trust the other guys, I wanted to give this guy a chance. I don't think I could have presented it any better.

I talked to him about that while we cooled down, his coach told him if he wants to be competitive at races like Joe Martin and similar he needs to start doing longer rides like that. Really nice guy.

One of the highlights of Lime Rock 1/2/3 I need to thank @Doge for helping me recognize; Austin attacked at like 80% and did the swerve all across the road thing, and then attacked again when he saw things were strung out. I've been on this site for like 10 years at this point and it's the first time I can recall directly applying something I read on it to properly mark a move.

out of curiosity sake could you tell me who this is via PM? it's weird being out of the expo drama these days

what team is austin riding for this season? i still remember seeing him race the rent when he was like 12 or something. pretty rad see him/ben crushing it on a much larger scale.

I'm down 11 pounds, about 7 more to go.

Not really sure its fair to use my max weight since I had a 3 day binge in February and there is no one that can outeat me; I gained and dropped 5 lbs that week. I don't have a big stomach, but the thing expands when it needs to so dropping 4 large plates of food is pretty ez.

6 pounds down is probably more accurate.

My mindset is good now, after being off 2 months and seeing guys that put in half the time I do drop me like nothing, I'm hungry to change that.

Hey look, pics of me in Feb.

Honestly, if I gained 200 lbs I'd probably be a mirror of that guy.

I'll probably race some this summer but I'd rather keep this healthful pattern going than just concentrate on the bike right now so I don't really care about results. I'll just do it for fun. If I get down to 165 or so by Fall I may shift the focus a bit to try to get even faster. Right now I'm enjoying getting stronger.

I've dropped about 10 kilo's in the same time frame. Crazy how you can feel the difference from being overweight to being still overweight but not as much.

Oof ... lost about 8 pounds since Sunday after picking up some kind of stomach bug on Saturday. Not a recommended diet plan. I think it has finally made it's way through, but I am beat. Light headed, irritable, and just plain tired.

I could use an 8 lb loss in a week, can you mail me some of that in an envelope?

There's something super awesome IMO about a steel bike with deep carbon rims. I've been thinking about a new race bike, but might just go with a steal bike for kicks
