I was riding my Cannondale System 6. The Gallium Pro was at home - I was lazy and didn't feel like swapping wheels that morning.
I'll add that I can feel movement between the carbon and aluminum when I touch the joint and apply a little pressure to the pedal.

Ah, probably fortunate you weren't riding your "good" bike then! Or maybe if you were riding that the incident wouldn't have happened because you might have been half a second faster. Way to wonder!

I want to buy a motorcycle when I get back to the U.S. Any suggestions for something under 200cc for riding around town and for using on back roads to go camping?
Also, Vietnam has been ridiculous so far. Almost got arrested once and had to bribe forest police, on antibiotics for a foot infection from my hiking sandals, and the most gorgeous scenery I have ever seen. If I had 4-6 weeks here, I'd have bought a bike.
How is everyone?

if you want under 200cc, might as well go electric. otherwise, ninja 250 is always a winner, very popular, plenty of aftermarket support, dirt cheap if you can find one of the carburetor versions

also where do you recommend seeing if one were to do a bicycle tour of vietnam and/or thailand?
btw. just because vietnam has a lot of scooters doesn't mean they would fare too well in the states. doesn't boston have a lot of bad drivers and highways? if so, 250 is the minimum. 650 is recommended for any highway travel

Local Masters Team (and our team then) Monster Media did a race trip to Vietnam last year. The riders said it was pretty big deal and the Vietnamese are huge cycling fans.

somehow i'm just not as invested in USWNT as i am for USMNT. Perhaps it has to do with the fact that USWNT is just so damn good, whereas the USMNT is a rag-tag team that punches above its weight. Doesn't mean i won't watch USWNT play
in any case i'm looking forward to the Concacaf Gold Cup

i have no personal knowledge of the issue, but i know nearly every time someone brings up monster there is someone else there to mention it. (usually accompanies a discussion on how relatively well-off masters racers can often be the greediest in terms of bike deals, free socks, race reimbursements....and apparently full team trips to represent sponsors in asia. )

He's not in to US women's soccer because they're too good, is what I got from it.
Or maybe that was him wearing the eagle costume, not sure.

that trip is kind of legendary throughout the US....as an example of masters racers taking team funds for something a bit ridic.

I ain't been on the interwebs much this week. Part is simply the logistics of moving. Part is the lay out of the new house. I have a desk in an office loft and my computer has spent more time there. Staring at the lake is pretty nice. AC goes in the workout room tomorrow. Fridge is sounding a death rattle. Part of the yard washed away with a heavy rain storm, and further review reveals a drainage issue I'll have to contend with. As far as ghosts revealing themselves not too bad. $1700 for a fridge though kills any hope for another set of race wheels for the time being. Staring at the lake and catching up on the internet. Sunrise casts the opposite sure in a glow, and sunset is directly across from us. Not too shabby really.
As far as cycling content goes, right before we moved in I did a hill climb without power. It wasn't awful not having the data (I used my PC7 for speed/cadence/HR/elevation).
I also went for a SS ride on a recovery day directly from my garage. 60 minutes of easy spinning around the woods. That's pretty good. I'm amassing a pretty good war chest of ebay credit as the bike shop for a geared mountain bike. I reckon the go fat, but waiting to see which group of friends win the ongoing debate.

Normally I hate GoFundMe type programs. (We discussed this a couple months ago.)
But a local junior is trying to raise money to race in the UCI Junior World Track Championship in Kazakhstan, so we tossed some money her way. I've raced against her father for several years, and my wife and I have watched her go from a kid riding around the races to someone with a legit chance at turning pro. She podiumed in the 17-18 RR and Crit and just barely missed the TT podium at Nationals a couple weeks ago.
If anyone else wants to contribute, PM me and I'll send you the link.

But yeah, the USWNT has 3 stars on their crest. That's legit.
