Oops. Material handler messed up! Used to work in a warehouse and this happens on occasion. Easy to grab two bags at once and not see it when double checking!

Just scored a great eBay deal on some White Giro Empires. Excited to try them out and I love the old school look! My s-works are barely hanging on as the carbon on the sole is splitting

Nice!

I've been riding shoes that are a size too big and have a cracked carbon sole for over 2 years now. Just picked up a new pair to go with my new bike though. Wonder how many free watts that'll give me!

What's the consensus on lace-up cycling shoes? I really like being able to adjust my double-Boa S-Works shoes mid-ride. Seems like you lose that with laces.

I never stop to adjust the laces on my running shoes. I think the boa systems and the ratchet systems need adjusting because the fit is less than optimal to start with since they have a defined fit based on the clicks. I hated the boa laces I had on a pair, and the Sidi's I have now with a ratchet aren't great either. When I need new shoes I'm definitely trying ones with laces.

Yeah, that's the place shovel mentioned above. I'll probably get one of those hubs so I don't have to trash the wheel set.
Wonder why that site didn't come up on my web searches?

Just moved into a new office a work and found a rack of dried blood slides like Dexter had. I can't recall the person who retired ever working with blood.

I started racing when that was the only option. I like velcro + buckle or boa better. The fit is not any better or worse (fit is so individual anyway) but with laces, you have to make sure to get it right before you ride. With velcro, I can easily adjust several times during a ride.

Novatec has a good rep. I have them on my Psimets and they have been rock solid.

So how do you all deal with providing eBay ratings for someone who sends something that's in vastly different condition than described/depicted, but gives a refund upon complaint? I've had it happen 3 times in the last month or so, and am never quite sure what to do. On the one hand, they gave me my money back and made it right, but on the other, it almost seems as though they're trying to see if they'll slip one by and send garbage in the hopes that someone won't complain. Seems like I should warn other people, but, on the other hand, they did make it right with me without arguing.

Best news of the day so far, we're able to check out late from our BnB tomorrow after the last Stage of ToC. That means we'll get a chance to shower before driving home 7hrs. This way maybe, just maybe the car won't smell like a sewer when we get home!

Velcro & buckle for me. Or some alternative that allows me to make it tight around the ankle, but stay loose in the toes.

I had one of my lace-ups come untied during a road race waaaay back when. Coasted downhill with my foot on the top tube to re-tie it.

My last set of lace up shoes. I added the strap through necessity.

Had an innocuous crash during a CX trail ride - not injured at all, but it was just enough to put a crack in my Giro Atmos. Grrr. New helmet on order - Lazer Z1. It's going to look pretty sweet, and I'm getting a great deal on it, but it's still not money I was looking to spend.
