That's frustrating! Interviewing and getting a job is far too complicated, there has to be a better way.

That's never a good sign.

Of course many employers care very little about the time of prospective employees.

speaking of all that interviewing and employment stuff- I may be starting in a litigation sort of job here soon, or not.

Also, the lady is getting head-hunted for a job that would move us to Bend Oregon in the winter/spring, so that could change things, or not.

New old bike that hasn't been ridden in 8 years (yeah, I haven't put the chain or pedals on, just brought it home):

Any bike is nice when it doesn't cost anything! It was for the national women's team back when, hence the paint scheme.

Wylde - I've had similar things happen to me. I thought I was a shoo-in for one job, then got a call saying the position had been frozen. It sucks.

And speaking of old bikes, I am currently riding my old bike - long story - and it is amazing how quickly things go to **** when a bike isn't ridden much. Rear shifting is OK despite a small crack in one of the pulleys. Front shifting is pretty damn awful. I think the BB bearings need to be replaced. The chain and cables are older, but haven't been used much. The positioning is all wrong. And I have cheap crappy tires on there.

Chocolate covered Oreos and other such nonsense in the kitchen at work. Help yourself if you are in the area.

I played semi-hookey yesterday and went to the beach. Paid for it with a nice sunburn on my shoulders and upper back. Owie.

Nice thing about old fixed gears is the shifting works fine

About 12 days ago a friend / coworker of mine came into work with a lazy eye. 3 days after he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. He died on Wednesday night.

He was very anti cycling and we used to argue about it nonstop. A few times he said that he would run me over (jokingly, I suppose) if he saw me out riding. Last night when riding by his house, I got 2 flats, both front and rear. Coincidence?

Wow that's pretty crazy. Makes you realize the importance of trying to enjoy every day, never know when it will be your last!

On a more positive note, where is a good place (area) to stay in Boston for relatively cheap?

is it weird that I can't seem to get motivated/excited about crits anymore? i used to love crits, but lately I don't even feel like doing them. there are some big local races coming up (hartford and boston) and I might not even do them, even though i could ride to mayors cup. just doesn't get me excited. but i'm driving practically to friggin' canada this weekend to race dirty 40...
