I'm the same way, although I do have a few ISP bikes, I still keep a bike or two with a standard seat post for travel and utility purposes. I've turned down bikes that were the wrong color for me (white- shows dirt as soon as I pull out of the driveway) or had them painted to cover up graphics (Livestrong). I ride professional-grade frames, but about 4 years or so later through the used or NOS market, and build them up with mid-tier components to find that balance between price and performance. I just loaded up on a few 10 speed groupsets and a bunch of cassettes when the prices dropped, because I see no compelling reason for me to go 11sp just yet. Besides, I have a bunch of wheelsets that would need to be replaced or re-laced to make the jump, which increases the cost. I'm pragmatic- it isn't that extra pound on the bike or lack of a gear in the cassette that makes me slow, and Oleg Tinkov isn't going to call me just because I dropped the money on a superbike.

When did people that raced start giving a crap about what other people were racing on given that everything was in working order?

The go-to race bike used to be a CAAD9 people thought it was adequate, reliable, and well... cost effective. Have racers started becoming caught up in fred culture?

I've raced my backup bike that I don't even like to ride many times. Once the race starts I never think about it.

Really they should see a physician but some of the following may help and are pretty damn safe.

Magnesium, vitamin D, fish oil or cod liver oil supplementation
Joining a club or group - any group appears to work
Exercise
Talk therapy
If the person has digestive issues, treatment of those helps, via the gut brain connection.

He was referring to me, because I saw someone say something I didn't agree with and fired back about his bike. It was a short exchange and I thought it was over.

I guess it isn't.
