I haven't been on a bike in years. Nor have I been to a bike race in years. Tomorrow, I am taking my girlfriend to the 42nd Dillworth Race in Charlotte.
She seems pretty interested in learning about what my fascination was in the sport and would like to see me get back into it.

I'm hoping to meet up with him for a week when he's done. I'm thinking of doing Thailand, Cambodia, and maybe Vietnam. Potentially Laos. Need to narrow down between those countries and pick maybe 2-3 and start making an itinerary, buying tickets, and getting visas. Not sure if I need to in advance as a US citizen, but we'll find out!
All you need to do to prep is watch The Beach, it should tell you everything you need to know!

wylde I think you were the one posting weight loss pics? Have fun at the race, enjoy yourself, suffer as necessary.

I am learning that this is about 90% of what it takes to be successful as a Cat 4. Too often I am feeling good and go blow some watts stupidly. More and more I think that even a moderately fit person could do well if they only applied their watts at the precisely right moment. (Of course, knowing when to do this involves cat 3+ expertise).

I spent a couple of weeks in Cambodia in the early 90s. I went to visit a friend who was working on a USAID democracy and governance project through the Asia Foundation. Phnom Penh was safe but still in pretty rough shape. The remnants of the KR were rumored to be still running around up near the Laotian border. It was crazy amazing. And I'm so grateful to have been able to see Angkor Wat before the hordes of tourists arrived.

I like the phrase 'blow some watts'. It goes with 'drope the hammer' quite nicely.

So the other day I decided to drope the hammer and blow some watts.

Ive done this race twice before...fun course on a race track. The plan (as it always is) is just to survive.

Just saw that my field for Branchbrook is maxed out. For a minute it made me worry that my chances for success might be smaller. But then I realized... all that means is there will be a bunch more people stretched out behind me and I will get more upgrade points for my win. I hope it's wet and windy.

I was thinking pictures of the scale. Regardless I asked because losing weight really helps overall. I know personally. I'm sort of anxious to see how I ride Sunday now that I'm not sick like I was for 3-4 weeks.

Will do. It's unlikely that I make it up to New Britain on Sunday. I'll have to figure out another way to steal those wheels from you.

Arg. The wheels are already in the trailer. I can bring them to my dad's post tax visit, April 16th-18th or thereabouts. I can drop them off or meet up or something.

I was thinking of giving you a pair of old Zipps (one built, one not) so you can say you stretch your tubulars on carbon. Maybe I'll do that.

Don't do anything that inconveniences you. I'm trying to see if there is anyone who will be at NB who is closer to me than you and could pick them up. There is still always a possibility that I can get there, but I'll be on Long Island, so not too likely.

No, I was supposed to, but have to bail. Thanks for the offer though. I've got friends who will be there, but that would mean inconveniencing a tremendous number of people. I'd sooner just drive up to CDR and get the chance to meet Junior. After this weekend my next race is likely LimeRock then the Kermis.

Don't all you Gold Coasters travel by chopper?

I could give them to one of the Sherpa guys, TT Endurance… I just looked through the registration list. There's one guy from your town but I don't know him (he's a 5). Whatever, it's all good, I can put them in the car when we head down, the wheels are in the trailer so they'll be at the race.

If you're doing Battenkill I could give them to @globecanvas. If you need the tires glued for Battenkill I'll bring them down with me to my dad's. We could meet up maybe the 16th.

I resent that implication. We of the gold coast have our people travel by chopper, those things can mess up your hair.

I'll figure something out.

Ah yea, that was me. I thought you meant here on bf. Woke up this morning at 199.6, so that's good. The last 2 times I've done this race I was at ~205, so not a huge difference now from then, my fitness (and leg/hip) is the big question..
