So the weight is steady at the slightly lower so that's good. Do your best and take motivation from your result.

still lol

haha

Junior just, just, just fell asleep. Normally he's asleep at 7:30-8, but he had a long late nap so 9:30. We were reading, meaning I was reading and he was trying to say what I was about to read ("Katie was a big red tractor" "Teeny a big red tractor" etc), and it ended up a huge giggle tickle match. So I'm in a lol mood.

I'm going to go to India for 2 weeks and then planning on figuring out what to do for 3-4 weeks. My best friend from childhood will be diving in Borneo but that's too pricey for me @2k for a week. I'm hoping to meet up with him for a week when he's done. I'm thinking of doing Thailand, Cambodia, and maybe Vietnam. Potentially Laos. Need to narrow down between those countries and pick maybe 2-3 and start making an itinerary, buying tickets, and getting visas. Not sure if I need to in advance as a US citizen, but we'll find out!
If you visit India at this time of the year, be aware that it will be hot in most of the country (40C+). I would totally recommend you to hike in the Himalayas where it will be cool, people are extremely warm and friendly and the mountains are majestic. Feel free to PM if you have any questions!

That's great, that's a significant amount of weight to have lost.

[41 ish]
Getting ready to head out to a ride in the mountains which I'm not sure how well I've prepared for. Tried to do some climbing lately so I hope for the best. It's just a few people from my club. It used to be supported once a year by the L.A. Wheelmen, but the Forest Service killed that, along with many other events involving federal lands.

When the L.A.W. ran it, there were between 60 and 100 riders, with sag stops in turnouts along the way. The Feds wanted a fee for using the turnouts and a % of the total $ taken in by the club, even though it's not for profit and the money we gave to the club was barely enough to pay expenses, if that.

I grew up in Delhi and know it's miserable, but you don't spend much time outdoors anyway.

Your idea was suggested to me by someone else as well, so PM INCOMING!

Going full cush on my Look 585 - 32 spoke wheels, Michelin Pro4 Endurance tires that measure 27mm+ wide, Specialized Ultralight tubes. Going to see how comfy I can get. Need to order some of those tubes for my '87 Ironman.

So there must be something to this training stuff. I did ok yesterday, no cramps, no stomach problems, despite 5000 feet of climbing in the last 27 miles and a stiff headwind for the last 10, or so.
15 riders, beautiful weather, and a friend brought food and water out to us in the remote part of the route. Hope the Forest Service doesn't find out.

i understand completely. i've got some ambrosio nemesis rims i built up and i glued on a set of P-R 27c tires (that measure 28.4). riding them at 65psi is like being on a magic carpet. they're aerodynamically poor (noticeably so), but i love pulling them out. pretty dreamy.

of course, 303s with the same tires @ the same pressure would be even moreso.

reminds me that since i converted to 11s i haven't ridden these; i need to lace up a new DA rear hub.

post a pic!

I have to wait to post a picture until I get a package from France. I lost a part from my right DA 7900 shifter during Rouge-Roubaix; it's the piece that the name plate screws on to. Apparently not even Shimano North America carries it. Right now the bike looks like it's missing a tooth.

oh....i think i have one of those. did you already order it?

seems like the UK/euro places have the shimano small parts that can be hard to get in the USA.

Volunteered at the Redlands Bike Classic for registration. Gaimon took overall, Haedo won today, Mannion 2nd Costa in 3rd. Horner got 7th.

...and I accidentally was told who won Roubaix...drats.

yeah....i am pretty good at tuning out cycling coverage when i haven't watched a race, but a friend posted a graphic in social media that was not obviously about P-R. when i took a closer look, i realized it had the name of the winner in it. double drat!

oh well.

some of you may have already seen the "Road to Roubaix" series, written by a former Zipp engineer (who now owns Silca) who was heavily involved in the development and use of the first carbon wheels at P-R. if you haven't seen it (and are at all geeky about wheels, tires, tire pressure or pro cycling), it's worth a read.

Part 1
Part 2
Part 3

i loved the read, but it also made me laugh. a few years back i was given a ton of **** for checking pressure loss in tires over time (i found it varied based on the tire & tube material, along with the specific tire itself). in my case, i had a 9-hour event and i noticed that my tires could lose up to 2psi/hour, so accounting for that loss was relevant when i wanted to nail pressure.

totally geeky, of course, but i'm not the only one who realized pressure matters (sometimes a whole lot!). stakes were lower for me vs paris-roubaix, but i actually ride my bike and only watch P-R on tv.

guys like @echappist, @MDcatV, @shovelhd, @carpediemracing and others might remember that.

anyway, it's always interesting to know what goes on behind the scenes.

Got another thread of mine closed today (Ethics). I need to check but I think that is 4 threads (Ethics, Cornering, Excuses, Worlds) that have been closed after some of my comments and two more I was told were off subjects. I don't quite understand the sensitivity, but again...I'm still kinda new here.
Is that some kind of record?
