I wish one day licenses were available for cat 4. $70 is a lot to spend if one only plans on racing 2 or 3 times in a year.

@shovelhd, will you be volunteering or spectating at Quabbin? I know it's not a USAC race but I think it's in your backyard.

Going up to SF for a day to see the Giants Championship Ring Presentation (and game of course). Since my favorite sports team is on a once in a lifetime run I may as well see at least one celebration in person. Almost tempted to stick around and see a Warriors game, but I've blown enough money for the weekend.

Speaking of junior racing, I've been thinking it would be fun to include a six pack of beer as the prize for the junior racing. It would go to the parents, of course, but it seems kind of like a cool price. Mom or Dad gets the six pack for the junior winning.

This morning I was offered a job that is basically whatever I want it to be, however many hours I want it to be weekly, at a rate of my choosing, either on the payroll or subcontracting depending on what I prefer, I get flown over to Belgium a couple of times a year, I get to work remotely, and it starts immediately after the race season ends. Blindsided and humbled.

I game pretty close to snapping my shin last night. Was finishing up some yard work in prep for our open house sunday. I was backing up a wheelbarrow full of bricks from under the deck and went a bit too far and had my legs taken out from under me by a raised garden bed. Wheelbarrow came down on my shin and my leg got wedged against the edge of the bed. Pretty nasty scrape, bruise, and a wildly sore calf.

I have a question for the tall people.
I'm looking around for a bike my nephew can ride. He's 6' 3" and my plan is to have him ride my cross bike (a 52 cm Felt) and add a longer stem and seatpost. Would this work or would it just be way too cramped for him?

I'm 6'2" and there's no way I could be comfortable on a 52. My main bike is a 58, with 9.7cm of seat/bar drop, a 110mm stem and 583mm top tube.

It might work to just putt around on. I'm 6'2" and I ride 62, 63, or 64 cm frames, but I like the bars real high.

I'm 6'4". I've tried to ride my wife's 54 bike. You have to have a really long seat post to raise it enough and still be safe, and then you are going to have some serious drop to the handlebar.
I agree with above, if the goal is just to get around, he will be fine. If you are hoping for him to ride in a group ride, I doubt it will be all that comfortable.

I am 5'10" with a 52cm CX bike and it's too small.
