I mean, what else to say? I know plenty of guys who ride the same volume (hours) I do, just structured a little differently. If you look at the list of my rides, bear in mind I commute by bike 5 days a week, and do 1 "training" ride of some sort, effort or recovery, each day, generally.
To some, I ride a ton. To some I ride an average amount. Last week was 13.5 hours. Usually I'm around 15. I enjoy it so I make time to do it.

Simple food can be so awesome. My wife boiled some fresh green beans and potatoes with some leftover ham. Damn, that was good!

I think rest would make him a fresher racer, yes.
rest as in not even touching the bike for like a week.
but wtf do I know, I'm just an Internet coach like everyone else these days!

Wasn't it last year or the year before they made a mid-season snap decision to discontinue their racing team? They're a good place to do business with, but it seems they're an example of alligator dreams/hummingbird balance sheet.

There is a crit I want to do on Sunday..but I don't want to drive ~7 hours round trip. Toledo is a terrible place to live if you race bikes. At least my club race series starts up next week.
