Doesn't that mostly consist of turning the other way when people post pictures of dead babies and such?

Anyway I totally think you should be mod here, it would be great.

Yes, we're a pretty big shop. We have quite a bit of VM hosts and several datacenters (Luckily I just manage the software end of things).

come now, it's r/strava, and it consists entirely of looking the other way until someone reports something, then I go in and usually do nothing. GOOD moderation!

My boss is out of town so I rode my bike this morning, showed up at the office late then went out to run "errands". He called me while I was out and the convo went like this:
Boss: What are you up to?
Me: Just running errands, UPS, Office Max etc
Boss: How's the bike shop?
Me: The what?
Boss: You are sitting in the bike shop aren't you?
Me: What makes you think that?
Boss: You just sent a Snap Chat of you in the bike shop to Ella and she's sitting next to me.
Awkward Pause
Boss: Can you pick me up some tubes for my 29er?

also @shovelhd, on a separate issue, i got one of those out in front universal handlebar mounts (see below) and am thinking of putting an out in front Garmin mount on the universal. the added "benefit" here is that this would really allow me to hold onto something while doing IAB. what would officials say about this?

I thought I was pretty clear but I guess not. I propose that you can train for climbing by doing intervals at the typical climb duration at threshold or slightly above. You can train for recovery by adding some short higher intensity bursts and drop back into threshold or slightly higher. It's not a replacement for training on hills but just because you don't have hills to train on is no excuse not to prepare for them.

Regarding your proposed solution, if it sticks straight out I would not allow it. Cane Creeks and Rakes point out and down, and fit inside the area behind the brake hoods. That said, I am not in your LA so I can't speak for what your local officials would do. Your LA does have one of the strongest, most qualified members of the NTC so that may or may not be a harbinger of any potential ruling.

You want to use out in front mounts in series?

We are finally getting rid of our servers. We got hacked a couple weeks ago, so the folks above are forcing us to get rid of our servers.

I've been advocating this for awhile.

Private, hybrid, public cloud. Why own a rapidly depreciating asset when you can rent. It's Compuserve all over again. If your organization isn't already there, you're about five years behind the curve.

Our lab information program is going from local installs and in-house SQL server to everybody using remote desktop and a who knows where database.

Pain in the ass.

Plus we have old instruments that can only be run by WinXP computers; for the amount of noise they make about that I should be paid more.

We are having cloud services pushed on us, its a mixed bag. For small shops, absolutely. For larger shops like us, its more complicated. Moved my Apache / MySQL stuff on the cloud (which are only a handful of sites) however some of our servers have to be hosted on site just due to the security / sensitivity.

We'd probably do something like buy space on a hosting server and carve out virtual servers from there. Let them worry about hardware.

This is the #1 fallacy being thrown out there. Security has many layers. If you shard data across many servers it's more secure than in one place behind a firewall. This is geek thread stuff though. I built my first cloud computing platform five years ago. You want to discuss the subject, let's do it over there.

Did you get any snow last night or this morning? Radar looks like there's some in the area. In 6 days the weather has swung 50 degrees. Yay spring.

You know who's really good at basketball? Steph Curry. It's gotten to the point that I'm shocked when he misses.

I've been looking at online backup for our company today - coincidentally. Our backup server is on the fritz.
Small firm, but we have some pretty large files. County size orthography.
