I love Phil. Late night recorded racing and some wine and I sleep better than with a sound machine.
I can't find the post race comments video by Cav that were here Amgen Tour of California Tour Tracker but he was commenting on Jen's comment that he was out of position. Something like (my words) "It was perfect...you don't want to take sprinting advice from Jens no do you"

Does he speak Swahili? I heard he was my home boy from Nairobi...but I can only see he lived in S Africa.

Paul grew up in Kenya and now lives in Uganda, so it would make sense that he speaks Swahili.

Being a group ride away from Perris I really want to defend it but outside of really good meth I can't seem to formulate a defensible argument.
A lot of places there take EBT as well...k, that's all I got.

English (like) is still the predominant language in Africa. Swahili was put together by the English as a collection of East African trade languages.
We were the only Peace Corps family (with kids) in Africa in the early 1970s. I was a kid in Liberia, I went to and finished HS in Kenya.
My adopted (legal) brother is Liberian.
Then - cycling related...I road across country 170mile/day and delivered a letter to Regan to introduce a Bill in Congress to allow him to stay in the country. See - as he came in legally he was not allowed to get the amnesty he would have if he had he been illegal.
So congress voted, he got to stay and I got to ride a lot.

Final reviews of the 5th revision of the April 12th clip. Debated making a few text changes, decided against them because many hours. Uploading now, should be 4 hours, going to sleep, will review YouTube stuff before making it public.

Unless he sold it he has a partial interest in a gold mine in Africa somewhere.

We lived in a small condo in North San Diego County and were expecting our second child so we were trying to buy a house. By the time we could afford anything we were in Hemet & Perris territory and decided F it, we might as well just go back to AZ and be closer to family!

Really interesting (to me, anyway) article about bicycles, function, and using objects as a way to store information outside of your memory:

I grew up in San Marcos (ages 3-10), then Vista until I moved for college. My parents have a real nice place in the foothills of vista, With an un-fenced acre of property between two private drwys. My dad spends most of his free time landscaping out there. It's very nice to be outside at home.
I like a lot of N County actually.

Worth it. Crowds are insane and Tulsa is actually pretty cool.

I looked at Google, it's South Melrose. My sprint-practice/test/experiment hill was by Bueno Vista Park (the uphill portion heading north on S Melrose). Etc.

I told the story last year, but it's the only race my wife has ever been to, and she made such a cheering spectacle of herself (as I won the race ) that she got on the jumbotron. Now she thinks all bike races are like that.
I grew up in Tulsa and couldn't wait to leave. But the city has reinvented itself in interesting ways. Two of the three race venue neighborhoods are literally unrecognizable from the 70s/80s when I lived there. When we raced past Cain's Ballroom I was like whaaaaat? That neighborhood used to be a shambles. Now it has cafes and the very cool Woody Guthrie Center, absolutely must visit there if you go.
Say hi if you do go. I'll be in the 3s Friday night (unless I upgrade in the next month, heh), the 40+ Saturday and Sunday.

You think at age 32, I would know the difference between bad allergies and a cold. Leaning towards allergies but it sucks regardless. Heart rate was higher than normal today on my commute.

Oh dude allergies are insane right now. I have hives. HIVES! from pollen, and after yesterday's ride there was no white left in my eyes, just red.

Everything has a coating of yellow, it's gross. Hope it ends in a few days - as it is, this is extremely late for allergy season.
