Most of the people here from a particular region know each other in real life, even if sometimes it's just to grunt "hello" before a race.

Which side of the line did you bid on gsteinb? The side of good (NY), or evil (NJ)?

I've met a few of the guys who post on this thread and a lot who post in the road forum. I would be happy to call any of them "friends".

Evil. Though I'm told there are several offers. It's been a stressful couple of weeks.

In my crit on Sunday, I was hurting and OTB. At the top of the short climb, there was one woman who cheered me on each time I came around. But with about six or seven laps to go, she made some comment about how strong I looked on the bike, and I just hollered back, "No I don't, but thanks anyway."

The next time I came around, she cheered even louder. It made the race seem less miserable.

btw, if anyone has 7950 chainrings in good shape, let me know. My race bike has basically been my commuter bike the past two years, and the parts got quite a bit more wear than they deserve. A new set of chainrings is needed, but i'd like to inquire here first

Congrats. My lab group (and my wife's) is interested in lung infections as well (though mainly from the bacterial point of view). My wife has some of her students up a paper from work she did in her last postdoc about the immune response to Pa infection so your stuff looks familiar.

We've been on the hunt for the past two months or so. The market out this way is quite hot (most going for more than list price), but we found a great one yesterday. Had our agent call the listing agent to place an offer. Turns out the home had been off for a couple weeks, but the listing agent forgot to pull it from MLS. Super deflated as a result.

got a door knock from a guy asking for donations for troops overseas... after billions of dollars, a large portion of which were misappropriated to afghan troops who don't care, sophisticated 1st world infrastructure that they can't operate/maintain and ends up being sold for scrap, idiot military leaders who were given millions to throw tax funded money in the toilet. it's hard to be sentimental. I only feel sorry for guys who risk their lives thinking they're defending their country, or guys going door to door for chump change that the government would rather dump into the desert. canadian tar sand might actually be a good idea!

Hang in there. We went through a very similar thing back in '01.

We have two competing offers on the place we want. I'm told that tomorrow they will ask for best numbers and call it a day. This will go over list as well. Dahell.

A bit stunned. Our inside rep at USAC in Colorado, Susie Diller, passed away today. I never met her, spoke with her briefly maybe 20-30 times, and emailed her probably 5-10 times a year for a while. Still, though, from what I could tell she was a super bright, helpful, cheerful person. She was diagnosed with cancer Dec last year.

Sorry to hear this horrible news, even if it wasn't a close friend.
