Sadly, I don't have any good answers for you, but I feel the pains.
just think how much time it would take to be an awesome golfer. I was near scratch at one point and I could easily see it taking as much time as cycling. my handicap is 5.x and climbing now because I hardly play. Oh yeah.. scratch is not even that good.. just like pack fill.

Update on my wheel repair following my encounter with the car:

I filed a police report. The officer is holding off on hitting the submit button until tomorrow morning. It will be classified as a hit and run once he submits it, and the driver could be charged for that. That situation seems a bit extreme to me given how things played out. Also, he was doing that to give me two days to try meet up with the driver...

And I was able to talk with her last night. She apologized again and gave me all her information. I told her I expected the repair to cost between $150 and $200 and that I could go through her insurance or work with her directly. She told me to go through insurance. Once I get a final quote from the LBS this morning, I'll be calling her insurance company.

Someone broke my car's driver side mirror and didn't leave a note. There is a special place in hell for this type of ******bag.

In the whole scheme of things this is small potatoes, but I wouldn't mind finding out whoever did this happened to run over say, a box of nails.

One of the newer RA's put AC/DC on in the lab... Nice pick me up. Reminds me of the Chicano AC/DC cover band that I've always wanted to put together en espanglish:

Es un long way, to el top, si to quieres rock y roll!

Very true. When I was playing "a lot", I was only able to get down to a mid-7. That included at least one focused range session a week and at least two rounds a week (tons of chipping in the back yard). Played a couple NCGA tournies and whatnot, but the buy in for performance beyond what I was putting in was quite substantial. My playing buddy was scratch and the bridge between our talent levels was tremendous. I'd say I was the equivalent of like a casual cat-5 in racing terms.

TTs where kids are expected to hold 30mph something plus are, well, kinda new.

My mother-in-law actually told me I should act my age and stop riding my bicycle. My wife is okay with it.

Did you respond with telling her that you were gonna put her ass in an old folks home at first chance? You can get the last laugh here, don't forget.

How big of an inheritance will she be leaving? If it's big enough, it might be time to go ahead and move her.

Our share would be about 20 acres of undeveloped farmland in a depressed part of rural Alabama (no, that's not redundant). No hurry to see her go, anyway; she thinks I'm horribly underweight since I'm not morbidly obese like all the other guys my age that she knows, and makes breakfasts that triple my cholesterol levels but taste amazing.

The ex-Mrs John used to ride with me, so no problems with me riding "too much". The current Mrs John (12 years now) was afraid and used to worry a lot, (she doesn't ride, and doesn't understand it at all), but now she gets disappointed when I come home after 4 or 5 hours.
Even last Saturday, I "disrupted" her by coming home at 1:00. "Why don't you do those 8 hour rides like you used to?"
