I was in meetings from 8am to noon today. I decided to count the number of times my superior went on a tangent not directly related to work. I counted 9 in the first one hour meeting. At the next meeting, after the third tangent I gave up counting. The last meeting at 11, we two director level persons subtly telling each to f*** off.
.
While meetings make the day go by faster, there are more productive things I could do with my time...sigh rant over

sweet! I'm digging that all the major Euro leagues are covered on FiOS now with BeIN has la liga, league 1, and Serie A (even though Serie A is terrible); NBC sports has Premier League, and Fox Soccer Channel has Bundesliga and UCL; then MSL is on somewhere, seems kind of random.

let's talk on the USMNT v Peru! Peru was impressive in the copa this summer.

despite their performance and pretty solid Elo rankings, i'm surprised they haven't qualified for the World Cup in ages

should be a good game, though i doubt we'll see many of the Bundesliga defenders taking part. Perhaps a good thing given that Fabian Johnson was the only solid performer of the group.

Friend/Teammate/Coach/Team Title Sponsor won the TT for the USA at the World Transplant Games this AM. Beyond thrilled for him. Road race is next ... hoping for another win.

Rather than do a training ride, I took my kids to a playground yesterday afternoon and hurt my back on a sliding board. Such an old man thing to do.

I hate work. My brother back in AZ recently quit his job for gymnastics coaching. Freaking cheap to live there. I'd move back but the racing (and riding weather) is so much better here. Whats the cheapest place to live with nice weather and good road racing?

Buddy of mine, former teammate, former state champ, ended his cycling career with a hamstring injury playing with his kids on the playground. He just sold his bike.

Be careful out there!

Although, come to think of it, just this morning I was playing monkey-in-the-middle with my kids and one of the neighbour kids, and the neighbour kid jumped up on my back, hanging off my shoulders with his hands. The left shoulder being the worst patch of not-yet-healed road rash. It felt less than great.

Added the road race gold to his list of wins today. Stoked for him considering what's he gone through the past year plus.

It's not bad out here, its got its negatives, which is why its a cheap place to live. Probably the only thing that comes close to the SCNCA Calendar in terms of racing is the NCNCA.

I would think something like Florida or Texas would be cheap and have a decent racing scene. Outside of that you're going to have to be close to a major metro area and have a higher cost of living. I've kind of been thinking about Austin lately but don't think I can leave the NW

Got burned on ebay. First time. Seller listed a sweet set of tubeless ready carbon wheels. But after closer inspection they are an older version of the wheels, not as the item description reads. I'm in the process of disputing, but the seller has been shady from the beginning. I hope to get my money back. Anyone ever have to dispute an item on ebay?

Darn.

just go though the motions with eBay and paypal (if you paid that way) in my experience paypal sides with the buyer 99% of the time... even when they are wrong. I've been on both sides. Had some tool gut a center channel speaker and send it back to me... I was pissed.

Thanks. I did pay with paypal. I also had the guy admit in an email that his description was inaccurate. So I have plenty of evidence to back my side up. I still am pretty flustered, but trying to let it go.

^ you should be good to go then...you just have to ship them back and wait.

I once got a set of rims with tune mig mag hubs that sounded like a popcorn maker under load.. I was like WTF, this is so wrong... why people do stuff like that is beyond me...wasting everyones time.

I did, and it wasn't a big deal. I took a video of the tri-spoke, so out of true as to be unridable, and sent it to the dude. He sent me a check before I had to go to Ebay at all.

Guy at work took his kids to the beach. He's lying on the sand relaxing when a little girl runs up and falls on his foot, breaking his toe.
Couple years ago Seana Hogan (ultra distance cycling monster) broke her knee playing with her dog. She didn't realize how bad it was until she had to dnf her next race.

I think we are heading towards laying off a guy in my department, that I sort of "manage". Strange feeling knowing what's probably coming.

A layoff is better than a firing. It's all in the messaging.

Seems that in some cases, layoffs are "polite" firings.
