We didn't want to fire anyone, but we definitely had to decide who we needed the least. Sorry, buddy!

But at least with a layoff, you can honestly answer that question that's been showing up more and more lately on applications, "Have you ever been fired for any reason?"

my wife accepted a layoff last year that started 8/1, and is loving life. she did get a sweet severance package though. the layoff was a nudge for her to leave a job that she was very unhappy at, but the compensation seemed too good to enact a change.

Carbon copy my wife. Cuts our income in half after severance runs out any day now.

1st week of my last semester is done. 14 weeks remaining. Very tough time focusing. Also hard to ride when I get home at 9:00pm after working for 13 hours.

I went back a page because this felt like it could apply to me. I mean, okay, it could, but it didn't.
I got laid off whatever from my last IT job. They gave me my year end bonus, about 6 months pay, and let me collect unemployment. It was all good from my point of view.

If you are seriously considering moving, check out the southeast. North Carolina has typically had a pretty solid race scene - this year was a bit slow - but it's not far to drive to events in Virginia, S. Carolina, Tennessee and Georgia, depending on where in NC you are. There's also a pretty nice velodrome in Rock Hill, SC, just outside Charlotte. Atlanta also has a velodrome. It was built for the 96 Olympics.

Many places give you a pat on the back and say "Good Luck"

Middle of the night last night my wife makes like 3 panic noises and jumps out of bed. I get that adrenaline wake-up thing and flip over to see wtf is going on.
a - nothing is going on. b- I ****ed my shoulder up pretty well in the process. hurts to ride, even. yay.

My teen daughter invited a couple of her friends over to watch her feed her new python. I guess there are worse ways for kids to entertain themselves.

Just started listening to the podcast by @grolby . Pretty fun to listen to the banter, loved the whole "We all know those guys who just love long rides" and "Were still 'young' but..."

My car has a broken passenger's side axle. I replaced the driver's side like 4 months ago. I feel like I'm playing the Oregon trail. I hope I don't die of dysentery.

I attribute my reflexes to a Gunnery Sergeant that used to like to sneak into a tent and stick his knife on people's throats late at night when we were out in the field....or Oakland.

They announced price drops at eurobike. They're pretty darn cheap, even Type Ss.
Talking about jobs, had an unofficial (and unsolicited) offer come in for a job out in Colorado this week. Still unsure about it - unsure about the move, unsure about changing from government to industry, but I guess I'll at least hear what they have to say.

We had a picture frame drop in our living room at 3am a few nights ago. Within 10 seconds of hearing that noise I was in prone with my 9mm sighted down the hallway screaming at my wife to call the cops. Once I called the all clear, was asleep within 10 minutes
