So basically you're at the bottom of the totem pole, being from Califghanistan and using 1970's tech and what have you.

Anyone have any experience switching from Sidi to Shimano shoes? I need a new pair of shoes, and I see the Shimano r171 in wide online for ~130..but the only problem is I can only find the wide shoes on the Uk websites. I can imagine it would be a pain to return them if they didn't fit..

I wear 45.5 sidi mega (and im pretty sure they are at least a whole size too big). Im having trouble finding anything online comparing the fit of the two shoes and no one around here carries Shimano shoes

+1 to wide Sidis not being very wide. Wide Sidis shoes are too narrow for me, but I am fine in a pair of regular width Shimano winter boots.

Saw this on Facebook about Battenkill:

"No annual license required, no one-day licenses required, no insurance surcharges, no junior gearing, online waivers, helmet required when racing only, no hassles. Enjoy"

Doesn't that make it a Grand Fondo?

I need a new job title at work. Was DBA, but now taking on other misc stuff within our tiny company, such as managing the desktop support guy, and gopher.
Gotta find a few key words to tack on after DBA.

Computer *****? Somehow, I've become my department's resident expert on a number of computer things despite being a luddite who doesn't even use a cell phone because I was the first to introduce these mildly innovative technologies into the classroom. Fortunately for me, we have someone everyone goes to for most everything else, but on certain things, I become everyone's tech support even though it isn't remotely in my job description and I don't get paid for it.

"Misc other stuff" is probably most appropriate, but doesn't sound great.

If its small enough, call yourself the CIO. Other than that, Systems Administrator is a good catch all.

The Sr. Developer and I are basically splitting up the responsibilities after the CIO left.

Went to meet the Parole officer of the person that hit me in July to put in a claim for compensation. Had to wait in the lobby with 20 dudes that were on parole. It was like a scene out of Oz, except like 10x scarier. The dudes in there were either built like linebackers, or had that ex con / Charles Manson stare.

I seriously doubt to see any of the money, and was hesitant on putting in a claim. However, The gun he's pointing in his Facebook profile pic is probably worth something.

My son (almost 15) has gone from "bikes are stupid" a few years ago, to now wanting to ride a lot. Nice to see. We did 18 miles on hybrids last weekend, and planning his first road bike ride tomorrow. Convenient that he's just a hair taller than me so can ride one of my bikes. Gotta get him some granny gears though. I had a compact crank hanging around, so that's a start.

Which brings me to ...... ordering a cassette, new tires and chain for him. Went to PBK first, coupon didn't work, so checked Ribble out of curiosity. Way cheaper, with no shipping ?! I was expecting Ribble shipping to bring it up to PBK total.
