Good morning everyone.
I get that every 8 years or so. Its really annoying. Especially cuz you don't want to go around telling people why you can't hear them lol!

I get that pretty frequently, like a couple times/yr. Narrow ear channels.

Nice! I once had a steel Nishiki hardtail which had a springy, comfortable ride. Then the frame broke and I got a Trek aluminum spine shortener. After that only full suspension, but it would be cool to try a hardtail again to see if my back could take it.

Do it. Slightly slower steering than my old 26, but still very good in the tight stuff and rolls over things soooo much better.

BTW, no one over 40 should be riding anything but full suspension.

I'm looking at this one. I just need to wait about a month until the Specialized bro deal season starts.

Cripes ... part of my job is to review technical reports for environmental cleanup Sites. I get that it is easier to be critical of a document when reviewing, but damn I feel like the batch I got in today just didn't even try. It makes my job a pain when their work sucks because I have to point out where it sucks and steer them in the direction of sucking less and if that fails, issue a financial penalty for their failure. Just do stuff right!

I had a couple thoughts relating to this.

If certain emissions controls were being used, say, 1 hour every 10,000 miles, and now they need to be used for every minute spent covering 10,000 miles, they're going to wear out or whatever. I'm thinking DPF here. It's what, like $8000? Something ludicrous. VW needs to cover all emissions equipment for life on affected cars. Or some super high mileage, like 250,000 miles, no time limit.

If the car goes down to EPA estimates, instead of getting 5-10 mpg over the rated numbers for both highway and city, I'd be okay with that. I wouldn't want them to drop below the official window sticker MPG numbers. Golf is rated 30/41, typically see 36-46 mpg without trying at all. JSW is rated 30/41 also, we see 38-53 mpg.

I'm thinking there will be a market for TDIs. Right now dealers can't sell any of them, new or used, so the only way to get one is private market.

I'm thinking I need to make and sell bumper stickers. "Don't tailgate me!*" and then underneath "*I'm spewing 40 times the permissible NOx right now!"

Wondering if I will hold the Series next year. Doing year by year domain name renewal, instead of doing a 10 year block. That's one sign.

Sounds pricey. I wouldn't mind trying one, though.

I could be wrong but I think it's mostly related to calibrations, fuel control programming and such.

btw, the dpf is supposed to last the life of the car with it's regenerations.

I did replace a dpf canister on a tow truck, it was about $1800, plus my exhorbidant labor charge.

I have no idea how the DPF works. But if it's something that is barely being used in the current "hack" set up, then it has to get used a lot, it would stand to reason that things would go south quicker.

At the same time it'd be nice if it's something that isn't part of the hack so it doesn't get affected by the fix.

The dpf is a filter on the exhaust that looks like a muffler. It traps the particles which are incinerated during "regeneration".
