I run Ti Spindles on my speedplays and I weigh a decent bit more than @grolby. I don't worry as much about their ability to take load as I worry about their capability for wear. I have managed to actually wear out the spindle where the cleat contacts it. IMO The extra cost is not worth the 60 grams.

They are easier to install, but not by a lot over the Vector version 2, from what I've read. No weight limit though, so I dunno. If they had put the battery somewhere else so it didn't reduce the cornering clearance I would even consider the extra $200 for the slight ease of installation.

I've been fighting a saddle sore for ~two weeks now and its at it's worst this morning. I've named it Keith since that's the most unattractive first name in the English language.
Anyone have luck getting a doc to deal with a saddle sore? I made an appt for this afternoon but would like to go in armed with arguments as to why I need Abx or ointments or drainage or whatever. I want Keith gone and the last thing I want to hear is 'stop riding until it's gone'

If it's been that long it often won't resolve on it's own even if you stop riding. Does it hurt during your day-to-day activities? Just tell them that, a painful infection should be reason enough for treatment.
A few years ago I lanced a saddle sore the morning of a road race. It was extremely painful and seemingly popped up overnight. I put some drawing salve and neosporin on the wound under a tegaderm bandage and raced the race with no pain. By the end it was completely resolved. So I'm in the "lance and drain" camp but the ointments may be worthwhile too, just no experience with those.

I'm running a spell check on a document at work. There are a lot of names in it, triggering a lot of spell check issues. In one case, Word suggested I replace the name with "clitoral."

You should totally listen to whatever Word says, it knows best.
I had some coworkers once who sprinkled bad words that I won't repeat here throughout a document they wanted me to proof read for them, to make sure I was actually paying attention. I was.

The crash thing is sadly another "it depends."one of the big determinants is where you ride. Being at the pointy end you tend to crash less. There are also a lot of guys who really can't ride their bikes. Even fast guys. I know some wildly fast guys who have atrocious skills. And yet they do believe they're great. Sone of it is dumb luck. I haven't crashed (knock wood) in a couple years. In the other hand I have a lot of metal in my body.

Last race crashes:
2009 due to guy intentionally swerving across road.
2002 due to mechanical (chain broke as I was sprinting out of a corner; to make things worse there was broken glass off the racing line).
I'm sure I crashed between 92-02 but I don't remember specifics/years.
1988-1992 every year, one year 4 crashes in 5 races, virtually all due to guys taking out my wheels in late race corners (2 to go at nutley and last lap at scotch plains are two I remember vividly). I don't remember most of the crashes but I know I crashed every year for 5 years, from my 5th year of racing to my 10th year.
1983-1987 I crashed every year in training, not in races, my first 5 seasons of racing I only crashed in training.

I wish I had a memory like a normal person. Some of the things you guys remember just blow my mind. I've only been riding 9 years or so, and not even riding for some of that, and I'm not sure I can remember every single crash I've had, or where they were.
I remember the crashes I still have physical evidence of (really just one, and a mountain biking one at that), but the rest, I dunno.
Everything from about 2 months ago and earlier is usually just a fog. And minor things from much more recently are usually a fog. But I can remember work things pretty well.

I'm crashing about once a year the last couple years. All in the same event, which is pretty much the nuttiest crit of the year.

I'm on the once per year plan myself. All 3 crashes have been the exact same template: lined out, top 10 wheels, the guy right in front of me loses it unassisted in a corner. Maybe with faster reaction time I could have snuck inside any of those crashes but when you're right on a guy's wheel at speed you are trusting him not to fall down and if he does it's essentially an act of god type of crash. I get that it always depends but data means something too. I'm happy to hear anyone say that they crash less than once a year.

My last crash was probably about a year ago at Lodi. The funny thing is that I had just avoided two guys sliding out in the penultimate turn and now we were on a long straight going into the final. Then two guys on the same team somehow got tangled up and went down in the middle of a long wide open straight. It was like slow motion as I was cartwheeling over the guy who went down in front of me. Torn kit and bar tape. Had to replace the RD hanger but otherwise unscathed.

I guess my average is once every couple of years in races. I broke my wrist at Battenkill in 2013 and took a header at Killington last year. You helped peel me off the road in my only crash this year. I've had 3 or 4 really close calls in the past 12 months as well where guys right in front of me have gone down and I've just barely avoided them. I think I've just been lucky.

Crashed twice in crits (out of 100+). Crashed once in a training race. Once training at the track pulling out. Once racing track. Once hitting a deer. Once dropping a chain on commute. Once the first time I descended ever. Twice hammering through wet curves. Thrice with cars. Once hit a pedestrian coming through traffic. I think that's all.

2 close calls in races; I crash probably once a year; the only epic one going off the road and down a cliff (about 20 feet) descending down GMR. My front tire tore going 35 mph into a bend; it was either try to corner and crash on the concrete or aim for the berm. Hit it and went over. Luckily it wasn't steep.
