Things are getting interesting with todays TT currently. Just saw Quintana clipped a barrier and crashed

i like the vuelta and am watching. there are 7 more mtn finishes to go (i think) and all the big climbing is yet to come. i think contadors time off the bike will catch up with him, maybe as soon as over the weekend, and quintana riding into 3rd week form will win. i would bet against quintana ever winning the tour, but the climbier giro and vueltas are what he's made for.
sidenote - watching froome ride is grotesque. he dispels all the myths about needing souplesse to make a bike go fast.

Watched Quintana start just now and figured he'd bobble one of the early sharp turns but no. Waiting with anticipation at every corner to see wtf happened.. then it happened..
Seems like as far as hitting a guard rail at that speed it went about as "well" as it possibly could have.. he somehow didn't go over the railing, somehow didn't seem to(?) clip the rail with his body. Maybe hit his head? A pro crash if there was ever one.
Feel bad for him for sure. He woulda lost 1:30 or 2:00 to Contador but now his GC hopes are surely done. Stage win or two in his near future I hope..

Yeah agreed about Quintana, although after watching the video a few times I don't buy his "the brakes didn't work" excuse. Looked like he over cooked it than fixated on a spot after his rear wheel slid out a little.
As for Froome I don't know what to think yet. I didn't think he would have a good TT to begin with. I don't know if he lost some kg's or just focused more.on going up mountains than time trials, but I had a feeling his TT ability would drop. We'll see what happens now.

I seldom take what these guys say on camera at face value.

Contador is fastest after 10.8km. Froome is 28 seconds slower but could make it up on the flat roads.

That attack from Contador in the final km was unreal. Blew by Froome like he was standign still. Kudos to Froome though because he did a lot of work leading them up the mountain.

thoughts from today:
a) Alberto riding like he is ~month or so out from braking his leg leads me to believe the dude is tough as effing nails or his leg wasn't as broken as we were led to believe during the TDF
b) cyclists fighting mid race with slaps just looks sad

seemed like the omega-pharma guy tugged on tinkov guy's saddle, then tinkov swatted his hand away, then omega guy started hitting.
I felt bad for the tinkov guy especially after he got dropped shortly after the duel! guess they both got booted.

i think if they would fight during the race, it would make cycling much more watchable. I think it is a good idea, and no need to stop it

The bike handling was pretty solid given the circumstances. Apparently there was some other punching the day prior with Rodriguez and a Sky rider mid pack as well. It might not be the image the UCI or races want, but I think the field does a good job policing itself and guys don't need to be DQ'ed.

I think my favorite part is the green/white Caja rider (i think its Luis Leon Sanchez) has his head turned around watching the whole thing. He must be thinking "look at these f'in guys"
