35-123 and 45-123 raced together, yes. Last year in the p12 I was disconnected after about 12 minutes and pulled after 18. To survive the 45min race (I thought it was 60, but I wasn't complaining after 45...) was my main goal. I mean, I tried to move up and participate but the course (6 corners, <1 mile, 1 20+% hill where I give up 5-6-7s each lap) denied me again.

That's awesome and a good result, but I have a soft-spot for the guy who stuck the solo break, too.

Shouldn't you be writing those?!
I wanted to do Dana Point NCC but it's tough logistically; maybe next year.. maybe Manhattan Beach but it's also a bit of a slog to get there.

Limerock. Raced with a few BFers. Break went with @GLobalcanvas, @thekillerpenguin, thought it would stick, basically gave up, then suddenly it came back. 3rd in a fun sprint, went a bit late, deserved 3rd. Broke up a team's podium sweep - guys got 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 4th was 1st's son. They were good natured about it, he's the guy that filmed me winning April 12th. Now I have him on video winning.

I raced 35+ because I am not quite sure how the local points series works, but my time would have been 3rd in the open. Should have done that so I could stand on the podium with those guys.

Cat 3s had 3 crashes. 2 Serious with medical teams. It was not a road/course issue - it was a distraction issues for crash #2 - that happened in front of me.
Daniel was last finisher Cat 2 (no crashes). He rode the front, came in the final corner 3rd wheel and popped his wheel out again. It is not skewers. Looking at the hub, it is not serrated, it just seems to slide out of the drop outs on big sprints. I'll have Cat 2 video up in an hour or two.

4th in the road race (cat 3/4); it was a hilly course, and I had a slight advantage being a skinny guy
pack finish with a prime in the crit (cat 3); the dude I was marking for the sprint won two primes, and I was like, there's no way he's coming around this time. sure enough, he time trialed out of the corner and smoked by everybody. I burned all my matches out in the wind trying to catch him, but I had nothing, and got swarmed going 36. I was second wheel in the last few laps, and I think that was a mistake. I should have been further back and rode with the swarm on bell lap.

Not quite "results", but whatevs. Bailed on the rest of the golden state races. Woke up feeling super nauseous so drove down and scratched from the E3 (well, really moved my reg over to the later 35+ 123 race). Went home took a nap, woke up feeling like crap. Drove down to the race to see if riding a bit helped, it didn't. Haven't been sick in a loooong time, hope it's short lived.

And I guess I chose a good year to sit this one out.

I changed my mind. I don't want to edit videos now.
I didn't have my camera, only mobile for this crash in Cat 3s that happened in front of me.

if you beat metcalfe you should show for masters nationals. how did you compare to phipps, roemer, bromstead, etc. on the day?
35+ nationals tends to be a little bit of a lighter field. the top is still the top, but for some reason there is less depth/fewer guys show for it than some other fields. fastest time is usually 40-44 but sometimes 45-49 in the TT.
could be worth it for you. rumor is also that 35-39 is going away at the national level and future years will start at 40.
lyman had a pretty horrific crash. nice to see him riding. seems like he has been doing the TT & GF thing. don't think he'll ever be the same. amazing how fragile it all is.

Dana point cat 2's 17/40ish
Had a horrible race at Barrio Logan so I went into DP just trying to follow wheels and make it a decent race. No team mates as I'm down from Seattle. Race started pretty chill, with a couple attacks but nothing looking too dangerous. A group of 6-7 got about 10 seconds ~20 minutes into the race, I bridged and they weren't working well so we got brought back. Same thing happened about 10 minutes later so from there I decided to just chill towards the front and do short pulls if needed. 1 guy went up the road for about the last 15 minutes and got brought back with 2-3 to go. A couple tried to bridged but basically just hung out there and didn't look too dangerous. I was sitting 3rd wheel going into 2 to go but got shuffled way back in the usual late race fanning and a crash that happened on the backside with 1.5 to go. Going into the last lap I was like 20th, and from there just held position. I didn't feel like sprinting for 13th so I just cruised it in and kept it safe. Not a great race for me but after yesterday I feel good about it. These were my first 2 crits of the year so I'm a bit behind the SoCal guys. Now waiting to get on a plane tired and sun burnt, thinking I will be making these trips more regularly in the future.

I raced twice today...
Well I raced once then lined up for another only to be spit out the back 1.5 laps in. Thats ok though, because I felt A LOT more comfortable this week. The last season and a half has been kind of rough for me, both fitness and comfort in general in races (cornering being the biggest thing).
In the C/cat 4/5 race I found myself on the front 3 laps in, then a guy from a team with a bunch of guys in the race attacked...two guys almost immediately responded and since I was at the front the adrenalin and excitement got the best of me and I joined. Ended up on the front chasing for half a lap..we caught the guy (at least thats what im saying until I look at the video) and I promptly drifted back to recover. There was a crash (that I knew was going to happen) this week..again! (im 3 for 3 this year...3 races, 3 crashes in front of me)..but enough room to get around and not get gapped off the back. Spent the rest of the time trying to hide from the wind..and ended up 10th or 11th. Last of the main group. Started to fade in the last 2 laps.
I needed this race. Still need to work on some things, but I feel like I made some progress this week in more ways than 1.

The B/cat 3/4 race was a big LOL. 1.5 laps in BOOM OFF THE BACK. I dont care though, im happy with the race before this one...and it was only 5 bucks for the 2nd race.

Mt Blue crit in Hingham, 1/2/3. Finally got to race again. I didn't win, but I did cover a break in the first 20 minutes of a 1 hour race, for some reason. Hit 202 bp right after that effort. Also set personal bests for power from 1s through 5s, which is something considering I really wasn't there for the sprint. Don't know seriously to take Stages power numbers for durations that short, but hey, it's cool, I'll take it.
