Note on the Astrale: DO NOT cut the wire.
I had one that worked perfectly until I decided to "extend" the speed sensor wire to reach the rear wheel of my recumbent. Turns out that the wire is difficult to solder. Something about each strand of the cable being varnished or shellacked or something.
Now it only reads speed in sub 40 degree weather. Go Figure.
