I just had a quick look at the Banshee, it looks very similar indeed.

I believe Giant's first Maestro design bikes came out in 2005. I have done a lot of reading about it, and it seems to be one of the most efficient designs. Here is an interesting comparison. The bad, it's at Giant's site, and we wouldn't know how much biased it is. The good, all the rider opinions I have read so far confirms what was written about Maestro.

I think my initial thoughts on the design will be quite limited, since this is my first FS, and I will only be able to compare it to a hardtail. Already I am dieing to try out the bike, but I'm afraid it will be a while as it is below freezing out there. It will be more like a torture than being fun.
