24x4-1/4 tires finally available

Yes, finally, 24x4-1/4 bicycle tires are available. Your familiar with the new Schwinn Stingray? It has a 20x4-1/4 tire on the rear. The 20 inch size is great for kids but not so great for adults! Think of a 24 inch wheel with 4 inches of tread on it! It's a monster, and gives a real mean look to a bike. The tires are being offered through "Firebikes" in Saskatchewan Canada! Firebikes has been selling kustom frames and parts throughout the world for a number of years, and has a great reputation.

Wide 24 inch rims in both 80mm and 100mm are available through "Firebikes" or "ChoppersUS". Wide hubs off of the Stingray (and it's clones) can be used together with these rims and tires. The best wide hub to get is the Sturmy Archer 3 speed hub "SXR-B3" (found on some of the new Stingrays), this hub will give more than enough chain line clearance for this super wide combination.

Wide bottom brackets are available though "Sickustoms" and should also be available at ChoppersUS. "Sickustoms" also sells parts to make multispeed jack-shaft assembly's that can also be used for adapting wide rear wheels.

"Firebikes" tire announcement (with photo's) can be found here: http://www.chopperbicycle.net/forums...ead.php?t=2628

Chopperbicycle.net is a web forum devoted primarily to chopper bicycles and related topics.

"Firebikes", "ChoppersUS", and "Sickustoms" are all members of Chopperbicycle.net, and all have contact information available there. For those that like wide rear tires this is the place to get information on where to get them ,and how to put them on a bike.

All the best
