This may sound real crazy but make sure the derailleur cable is "seated properly" at the deralleur cable clamp bolt. If not, this changes the pull rate of the rear derailleur, resulting in one end of the cassette shifting smoothly and the other end not. This happened to me once, many, many years ago when I replaced my derailleur cable......
