To answer the question, a triple derailer shouldn't have any problem with a double crankset. A double derailer will shift a triple but not that well. The thing to do, and this is what I do on all of my bikes, is to try it first. If it works, great. If not, change it.

Thats why its called bike "forums" and not bike searches.

I dont use the small ring anymore thats all. The steepest grade I climb is 4.5 miles at 1000 feet. its not that bad but I use to have to use the small ring. Now, Im good and would rather have a double thats all.
