I'm not sure but I read something about the history of the toilet some years ago. It was claimed, by the Irish, that they invented the toilet in 1790. It was later claimed, by the English, that they came up with the idea of putting a hole in it in 1890.


Like you, I'm amused as to what the difference is between a British toilet and a European one? Maybe if poululla can take time off from beaming ear-to-ear how proud he is of his son () that he might explain it, having been there and seeing one close up, in a matter of speaking.
